I call it my superbowl ring cos its huge!

my FMIL in law asked me a year ago for pictures of what i wanted for my ering. i resisted for as long as i could worried she would make it with her jeweller in india with a low quality MRB because she disapproved of me wanted an OEC. anyway i sent her pics of a small dainty halo and she presented me with this humungous ring at our engagement party! don't get me wrong i love it!

it is white gold and diamonds but i have no idea what the center stone is. they have a habit of making jewellery with artificial stones but i said several times that i would prefer a cheap stone to an artificial stone so I have my fingers crossed but hesitate to get it checked!

it is super super heavy. i wore it the night of our engagement party and found that while it was a snug fit over my knuckle (middle finger) it was still big enough around my actual finger that just from clapping after speeches and the weight of the ring my finger ended up pretty sore and bruised.

anyway i'll show you the ring and then the inspiration ring design and stone color afterwards! for reference my ring size is 4.75 and my ering stone in some of the pics is 9.2mm from memory

as always my photos are all sideways and upside down!! i don't think i single one has ended up the right way up!

as you can see my partner got an engagement ring too! another surprise from my FMIL and a source of much entertainment for all our friends during the night. he also got a rolex daytona from my parents

i've attached the photo i sent the jeweller when my mother in law asked 'you want ruby or emerald?' which i now understand really just means red or green :P anyway i looked into it and have found that yellow stones are linked to wealth happiness and children. all things you would wish for at a wedding so i assume thats why they have chosen yellow.

i thought i could like to the fay cullen website to show the inspiration ring but i can't find it on there anymore. such a shame it was a lovely setting

Oh wow!! Um, yeah, I kinda see the resemblance!! And you could certainly do some damage with that ring!! It's a serious knuckleduster. It's not often you can say that a 9mm diamond is totally dwarfed.

Could the centre stone be a peridot, do you think? I love the photos of you and your fiance. You look so happy!

i should change my title to knuckle duster!!! much more appropriate :P

some of the pics show a bit of green but i don't see it in person. I'm very poor at picking up secondary hues but i don't really see green in person. i was leaning towards citrine. but i don't know for sure.

you might notice i look much more comforable in my pink modern indian outfit rather than the traditional blue one which weighed 22 kgs and was very heavy! and my partner complained that the rose garland was heavy!

Wow! Now I really want to see how the necklace turns out! Beautiful ring, beautiful outfit, beautiful head ornament!

I rarely play "guess the stone" but I would say chrysoberyl. It reminds of two stones I have.

Very cool pictures! I can see the resemblance ...just looks like they choose to supersize it! Thanks for sharing!

They did a really good job in replicating it! Just on a wee bit of a much larger scale :)

I like - very pretty! What did your partner get?

whooooaaa! That's a statement piece if there ever was one :D I think they did a pretty good job reproducing your inspiration ring on a humongotongous scale ::) I would second Lady Disdain and guess that the stone is a chrysoberyl.

Love, love, looove your OEC!

Wow! That's some ring! You and your FI look amazing in the photos! You are GORGEOUS! So, is this a ring you'll have to wear every time your see your future in-laws?? If so, you'd better start some PT to strengthen your fingers!!

Add me on to the list of those who think it's a chrysoberyl. ::) Your OEC is gorgeous! :D

Hahaha talk about taking it to the max! At least they tried. It makes a lovely cocktail ring.

I guess chrysoberyl for the stone too. But as you know, most of the stones on the subcontinent are artificial (they only reason I never buy from there, such a shame as they have some beautiful designs I have been sorely tempted by before) so you should get it checked out if you care about natural stones.

Tell us about the OEC, do you have a thread?

Given Vedic astrology ... Yellow sapphire, maybe? And the workmanship is lovely! Just, proportion-wise ... wowza! I can see how it's not an everyday thing ....

Wow, they actually did a nice job recreating the setting...it's just really blown up! It looks very pretty on you...but, can't lie, I like your OEC better :halo: It's gorgeous and looks just perfect on you!

Wow, that is some ring!! What a statement piece!

It's official. I want to be an Indian bride in my next life.

 Well, not sure what to say on this one! I guess you'll wear it when the in-laws visit at least! It actually would make a much better pendant at that size.

Your pictures are very beautiful!!! And I adore your OEC engagement ring. :appl:

Yes, inspiration on steroids! Between those two rings, you are going to have carpal tunnel trying to use your left hand. Maybe RHR for the new one?? I would love to hear and see all about the Indian traditions for engagement and marriage. It looks like such over the top fun, which is right up my alley!
