My Tiffany Fancy Yellow

Cflutist, what a beautiful ring!

It's quite a feeling to just buy something at Tiffany and walk out the door with it, right? I think seeing a piece on your hand before you buy can be such a luxury when you're used to buying online. You pay for that luxury, but sometimes it just feels good.

It's funny, I've been thinking about yellow diamonds too. I think yellow diamonds are a great way to make diamonds set in WG or PT950 (like a wedding set) partner with other YG pieces.

I'm with you about some yellow diamonds being TOO YELLOW. Yours is just perfect! Wear it in good health! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Well, actually they asked if I wanted to walk out with it and then take it to my local Tiffany to get it sized and I said no because 1 - I hadn't talked to my insurance agent yet 2 - it would have had to be sent to NY for sizing regardless. So we took two pictures with my phone while in the store (one of which is posted here) and I walked out with a sales receipt, a temporary lab report, a Tiffany bag, that Tiffany book, and the blue box/white bow. I also asked for a plain white bag for all this stuff because I didn't want to be walking around town carrying a Tiffany bag (I volunteer in the Crime Analysis Unit of my local Police Department so I am very careful about these things).

Silly me, I was so excited that I didn't check the lab report against the ring/diamond while in the store. When I got home from vacation, the serial number on the ring shank matched, and I needed a 30x (40x would have been better) loupe to check the laser inscribed number on the diamond (it matched too). But what's strange that I always thought that they were lasered on the girdle (my AGS000 in a three-stone ring is on the girdle), but Tiffany puts it on a bezel facet. How weird.

They gave me a Tiffany pouch when I picked it up at our local store (it took about two weeks) and it also took that long for them to send me the official paperwork. No plot on the lab report because it was less than 1.0 ct (similar to the GIA Diamond Dossier).

Oh my goodness - how did you stand it??

I wouldn't have been able to part with it! Could you sleep at night?

That's interesting about where the inscription is. I wonder if all of their diamonds are that way, or just the yellows, or what. Hmm.

You must have had temporary diamond insanity, or at least diamond intoxication, that you didn't check the numbers.

The whole experience sounds glorious! (other than the waiting part, that is!)

Well I was excited and I did post to my Facebook friends. I did look at those two phone pictures many times ... LOL

The emotional side of me said take the ring with me (and I would bet most women would), but the logical side (am a retired software engineering manager) said no, it is better for Tiffany to send it directly to NY and for them to have responsibility for it until it got picked up at my local store and put on my finger.

It is just wonderful. You must stare at it ALL the time. I am so happy for you! :appl:

I have to add - caution while driving! Watch the road, not that gorgeous ring!

It's absolutely gorgeous - what a fabulous shade of yellow! And it's always fun to have something in the little blue box. :naughty:

Glad you're back! I have enjoyed seeing your pieces in the past.

Beautiful yellow sunshine
Enjoy your ring, and I hope you had a lovely holiday!

Beautiful ring! It is such a gorgeous saturated color! And your bracelet is TDF

Noticed in your signature that you are a dog lover.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is an exceptionally dog-friendly city. Most hotels allow dogs to stay with guests. Almost all restaurants that offer outside dining allow dogs in those areas, with most of them also offering water. A few have special "doggie menus." Many retailers allow dogs to accompany their owners in their stores and many have treats available. Water bowls and dog biscuits can also be found in front of many stores. Dogs are not permitted, however in Devendorf Park (on Ocean Ave. between Junipero and Mission Streets). Dogs must be leashed, except on Carmel City Beach, where they are allowed unleashed if they are under voice command from their owners. The police department takes animal welfare seriously and officers will open cars that contain pets without adequate ventilation or water and will remove the pets and cite the owner.

Of course Tiffany had a water bowl outside their door too.

I was with some PSers this weekend and we were drooling over the yellow diamonds at Tiffany. They have some amazing pieces - and this is certainly one of them! Beautiful!

Yes I am a dog lover-one could say to the extreme  I would love to visit there someday, having dogs around is such a joy!
Glad to hear the police keep an eye out for dogs in cars-that's a grave concern in the heat and can be fatal even in 70 degree weather.

I hope you're enjoying your beautiful yellow diamond! I visited Tiffany's on Sunday and tried on a few Fancy Yellow diamond rings. I really want one :Up_to_something:

Again, swoon. :halo:

I too have drooled all over the Tiffany showcase that houses the fancy yellow diamonds..
Yours is beautiful!!!! Enjoy!!! :appl:

Since I posted this in another thread, will post a picture of the Tiffany hallmark here too.
The distortion from the camera lens makes it look crooked, but it is straight is real life.

The serial number of the ring is stamped on the other side of the shank along with .80CT.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I have had this ring for 3 months now and still catch myself sneaking peeks of it during the day.

What a stunning colour. It's perfect in combination with the warm gold. The stone has quite an impact. Congrats!!!

Lovely yellow! I absolutely adore your ring.

Thank you Acinom and IndyLady.

Here is a picture I took at night with my phone.

I learned something the other day.

Sometimes a Fancy Yellow is mounted in a ring with a 14K/18K Yellow Gold "cup" to improve
the color grade by one (kinda like a push-up bra increases my cup size by one ... LOL).

Too bad my Tiffany is mounted in an open basket head otherwise it could look like a Fancy Intense Yellow :)

Your new ring is gorgeous! Now you are going to need the suite to go with it. :naughty:

Catmom,

I took your advice and purchased a 8.94 TW parcel of FIY round brilliants to make a bracelet and pendant.
The story about the search is here (I learned that the rounds are much more rare and expensive than radiants):

I don't have pierced ears so I don't wear earrings.

Now I'm also wondering if these FIYs will make my Tiffany FY look pale?

Absolutely gorgeous yellow diamond ring, summery and joyful.

would you mind giving details of the three eternity rings in the photo? I'm helping my mum choose an eternity ring and would be interested to know the sizes of these to understand the kind of size she wants?

Thanks!

Thank you Tru Luv858.

We were in San Francisco today so we stopped at their Tiffany store where I got to see my diamond under the microscope.
Silly me, when I purchased the ring in Carmel while on vacation, I was so excited that I did not check the serial number of
the diamond against their lab report. It matches, so that is good. The first 4 digits (after the letter) is our anniversary date, how cool is that?

Looked at some Tiffany Soleste pendants too.
They had two .50 and .55 FY and FIY for $ 9 - 10K. That's not bad for Tiffany.

However a 2+ ct FIY Soleste pendant was $94K ... ouch !!!

And the sales lady had on a 5 ct Tiffany diamond. It was sure beautiful, lots of dispersion, but I did not ask her for the specs.
We chatted for a while and I found out that she did not live in SF, but in the East Bay where homes are $2 - 3 million.
She did say that it was her 20th wedding anniversary gift from hubby.
