Hi everyone!

Presenting my new 0.84ct G VVS2 Ex/Ex/Ex Tiffany Harmony solitaire! I know Tiffany diamonds aren't always ideal cut, so I tried to do my due diligence to the best of my ability considering I couldn't see it in person before purchasing. I bought the ring on eBay (my favorite!) after plugging it into HCA and evaluating the angles/percentages in relation to the AGA cut grading chart here on PS. The diamond scores Class 1A in every category except for crown angle, which is reported as 33.9 (1A range is 34-34.7). So, off of Class 1A by only 0.1 degree in one category! Purchased the ring from a reputable seller with a 30 day return policy. Verified the Tiffany laser inscription on the star facet with my 60x loupe. Looked at it through the consumer-version Ideal Scope and was very pleased with the results. Is it perfect? No. It is perfect enough for me? YES! It performs beautifully in all conditions except direct bright sunlight, in which it goes dark (with some fire), but I've read that is kind of to be expected with ideal cuts and I'm not displeased about it. It's a G color but honestly I compared it to a D diamond I have in indirect sunlight and they looked exactly the same to me -- I was shocked; I thought I was very color sensitive and would notice some color. I'm thinking maybe it's a "high G" that would maybe be graded F by GIA but Tiffany is stricter with color grading.

So without further ado, the photos!

I am very excited for you! This is gorgeous!! I am super impressed with all of your double checking to make sure the stone is a keeper. I personally love Tiffany and think there is just something about it that is so special and romantic.

Ooh, I love it! I am such a sucker for a beautiful Tiffany ring & your sleuthing has paid off - well done!

Will you pair it with a band?

Gorgeous. A classic beauty. Perfection!

Really pretty!

It’s quite beautiful!

Yes, I will be pairing with the Harmony plain band! (Also an eBay find...) I always wanted a plain platinum wedding band so as not to worry about stones falling out or getting damaged.

Very pretty!!

Can't wait to see the whole set!

Beautiful ring!, Congrats!

It's beautiful!! Great find!

Beautiful ring - congrats to you!!

Tiffany takes their solitaires seriously. Great ring!

You did a great job finding that one! Beautiful!

For you! And anyone else interested. I love how the wedding band tucks in under the diamond; I think it keeps the diamond from getting "lost" in the solid bands. Can't wait to wear it like this! :kiss2:

(Please excuse my nails)

Thank you all so much! Classic and classy is exactly what I was going for, along with low-set comfort. ::)

I did not purchase the band from the same seller. The engagement ring was from a jeweler in the US that specializes in Tiffany estates, while the wedding band is from a seller in Asia that also specializes in pre-owned Tiffany. The band seller had good reviews and only had three Harmony platinum bands available in very specific sizes, and one of them happened to be mine. Not really sure how to authenticate a band, but it feels like platinum (heavy) and looks to be the real deal. I do trust the seller if only because it seems like an odd piece to fake, especially at such low quantities -- high risk / high effort + low demand / low reward. Maybe I'll know for sure if I ever decide to send it off to get engraved by Tiffany.

I am curious about the seller on eBay that you purchased your solitaire from. I purchased my Soleste from a vendor that sells on eBay as well. He was fabulbous to work with as I was trying to decide between two Soleste rings, ordered one and then had to send it back for an exchange for the larger one. Was it BlueChip Jewelry? I collect Tiffamy pieces and am looking for reputable sellers on eBay. Would you mind sharing? FYI, I found out about Mark at Blue Chip through a fellow PS member.

Also interested in knowing the eBay seller!

The eBay seller is wabashjewelers in Chicago. I used eBay's 'Make an Offer' option, we had some back and forth, agreed on a price, and the transaction was very smooth. I paid extra for the one day shipping, so they dispatched it out that same day and I did get it the next day (signature required). Came with Tiffany box, all the documentation, and with two copies of their appraisal -- one for insurance purposes and one for my records (I didn't ask for two copies, they just did it). Because they had received a copy of the sales receipt from the original owner, their appraisal was for the original price paid, I believe. I would definitely do business with them again.
