I know nothing about jade but these are really pretty! Are they more sea-foamy green or bamboo green IRL?
Congratulations! Very pretty and I’m sure it makes a great statement on. I just LOVE Lang’s! I bought a lavender jade pendant from them last summer, and just the whole experience was great. It’s such a treat to marvel at all the treasures in there.
Thanks! I bet you could layer your pendants on different lengths of chain. They are all gorgeous!Gosh, that is so beautiful. Congratulations!
Yeah, in the Auto mode with no flash, my Samsung phone made it looked bluish.
HI:
WOW! ME LUVS!!!!
May I ask--what is it about your Mothers pendant that make it delicate--is it thin? Looks gorgeous.
cheers--Sharon
Wow, that’s gorgeous! Just curious, Why do you think it’s fragile? I ask because even thin jade can be extremely strong.
Ugh, I second not trusting Chinatown for jade! Had a bad first jade buying experience there.Omg, the photo in the shop is even more beautiful. I need to visit this place the next time I am in San Francisco.
I am confident buying CBI diamonds online from HPD but not so much with colored stones.
Didn't trust myself going to Chinatown or the Gift Center.
I guess it takes one chip to make one weary of fragility. It’s strange, some jade is very strong, and others not so much. I bought my daughter an untreated lavender bangle. It had a mid grain, ‘sugar’ texture, ( which seems looser to me) which may have hid a fracture. Anyhow, she slammed her wrist down at school and it broke in two. I had it banded after that.Yes, both of them are rather thin. The one from my high school boyfriend is thicker but I still managed to chip it on the bottom.
What beautiful and special pieces you have! That’s gorgeous. I think that it would rarely get knocked as a pendant, ( unless on a very long chain) and it has the exterior gold protecting it. But I completely understand your concern. Given the sentiment, what would one do if it cracked! Those could be natural stone lines or fractures. But some fractures heal or partially heal, even though one will always visually see the original line.
Omg I love the lavender jade and its halo! I'll have to stop by Lang's next time that I visit SF.
The pendant is lovely, and you should wear it more, though I can understand not wanting to break it since it looks thin. (This is coming from someone who broke a jade bangle as a teenager by accidentally dropping it on tile floor and stopped wearing all jade bangles. sad )
You must drop by Lang's next time. It’s like a jewelry museum. The inventory is immense! And, there are some really fabulous, artistically refined pieces from many style periods throughout the ages. So interesting and inspiring. Most is hand made stuff.Omg I love the lavender jade and its halo! I'll have to stop by Lang's next time that I visit SF.

I still have the broken pieces. It used to be part of a pair of icy jade bangles purchased for me back in 1999. I got out the other one to try on the other day, and my hand has outgrown the bangle. I think I'll wait and see whether I eventually make a kid who's interested in my jewelry. You must drop by Lang's next time. It’s like a jewelry museum. The inventory is immense! Sorry about your bangle having broken. My daughter, who broke her bangle now doesnt wear it even after it was banded because of fear of it happening again. So now I wear it sometimes, which she is fine with. She just doesn’t trust herself with the bangle.
