Hi,
I am from Scotland, yes. Love pricescope, can''t believe it took me so long to find this site!

Not many people here would ask a jeweller for a cert. for a stone - pretty much goes on appearance, or maybe we''re not that clued up yet. I have no idea of the details of the stone on my e-ring or wedding band. I have a horrible feeling this is going to go down badly, because you guys know your rocks! I fear that this post is the diamond equivalent of going into a weightwatchers meeting with a tripple pepperoni pizza...

Sorry!

If you are ever in Scotland, go to Glasgow, to the Argyll Arcade. It''s an old Victorian street, covered over with glass and devoted to diamonds. Some rubbish, but some very good looking stones too.

Hope to see you!

Jen
I am so excited to go to Scotland in the future. And I am envious that you LIVE there!

*M*
Post when you''re on your way, and I''ll meet you in the arcade! I love living here, hope you make it for a visit. Best part - beautiful country and small= 10 minute drive to work (admiring my e-ring in the car mirrors all the way). Worst part - not that many bright, sunny days to see much of the flourescence!

Where in N.S. are you from? I''ve lived in several places in N.S., but I consider Dartmouth my home.

Well that would explain why you''re so sunny!

Nova Scotians (if that''s what one calls them) are hands-down the friendliest bunch I have ever met. They say Canadians are ''nice'' people, but Nova Scotians take the cake! For example, I once tried to jaywalk in Halifax by dashing across the street between cars, but was foiled as every one of the 9 oncoming cars slowed, stopped, and waved (smiling) as I stumbled across the street, jaw hanging. Amazing people.

New York

Mrs. M, as I read your posts, I can hear your broague!!! (spelling??) I was born outside of Glasglow.

Hehe. My husband is from Nova Scotia and the first time I was there to meet his parents we had this conversation as we were driving down the dirt road to their house:

him: So everytime you pass someone along this road you have to smile and wave.
me <- staid New Englander: What? But why? I don't know these people. *frets*
him: It doesn't matter, you just do it. You don't want to be considered the rude American, now do you?
me: No, I suppose not. *pastes on smile and lifts hand*

Fortunately, we live near Boston, MA now. Being that friendly is hard work. :)

I too am from the "Mitten" - i.e. Michigan

Hahaha... It''s like that is Eastern Québec (Gaspésie, about 10 hours east of Montréal) too, and it is pretty funny. My brother''s GF comes from there and she tells us stories like that pretty often!

Hi there! I lived in Glasgow for 10 years, so I have picked up something of the local accent! Been in New York a while? I have family there, so I visit from time to time. Now that I''ve found pricescope, am itching to go back to NYC and just drool over some of the stores I''ve seen mentioned!

Well, thank you very much!! I am sooooo glad that they were nice to you in the city when you were there.. My girlfriend and I went on a day trip to the city one day, we went into one of the stores, and it was very busy, and we accidently bumped into a lady...being country gals, we apologized and said excuse me, and myyyyyyyyyyyyy the glaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeee we got was down right insulting - lol We walked away with our tails between our legs and giggling said, well you would think she was from a big city unstead of just from Halifax giggle...
So sorry to say, not all Nova Scotians are as kind and courteous...but hey I try :}

Maybe we all felt we wanted to be part of the royal family at one time so we try to do the royal wave...unfortunately the royal family does not make us proud any more...so now we just do the friendly Canadian wave giggle :}
