Hi,
In keeping with being an informed individual, I found a post by Roger Dery who linked ro the above commentary by Jay Boyle of JTV.

The article states substantial price increases in Emerald, Sapphire, Tanzanite at top color going for $400.00 per ct. Remember this is the wholesale cost. Retail can be anywhere from 2x-4x that amount. Mexican fire opal is undervalued.

Article can be found under colored stones by Roger Dery on the website that cannot be named. I'm sort of laughing to myself that JTV beomes the source for gemstone infor.

I wathed last nite while they showed spessertite. TL, nice clean Nigerian material 4-5 cts, cognac with yellowish highlights--being called Manderin--top color--400-500-per ct. a 2.95 ct was $1100.

New Source in Sri Lanka for blue sapphres was found.

I also heard that a lot of be-treated sapphires are being sold as Sri Lankan. They're almost black ones from Australia that they've firgured out how to make a desirable Ceylon blue.

I'd like to take the wait and see approach on the new Sri Lankan source as well for the same reasons. Does anyone else remember the andesine debacle? :cheeky:
