Neck update.

Karl - I’ve been down this road, albeit without the non responsive surgeon. When someone (or a doctor’s office) shows you who they are - believe them. I’m fused C3-7 - two big neurosurgeries in Denver. Find the BEST neurosurgeon. I’ve gone through the pt, injections, etc. Ultimately the surgeries were necessary and helped quite a bit. I don’t know anyone in Wisconsin or Chicago but ask everyone you can. Ask medical and non-‘medical people who’d they let operate on their spine. Don’t wait too long. Good luck. Happy to answer any questions you may have!

Have an appointment with Dr. Doppenberg on Nov 13th.
Soonest he had available.
Im happy it was not longer.

Prayers sent.

Tomorrow AM(24th) I get the shot in my neck.
I'm kinda nervous.

Keeping you in my thoughts @Karl_K . Good luck tomorrow !!! Hope it gives you some relief!!

Sending positive vibes @Karl_K !

We do those every day. Is it epidural or transforaminal? You had to hop off your anticoags?
Not to alarm you, I struggle to remember a bad reaction to these. Worst case, it didn't do much good.

Good luck, Karl...we will keep you in our prayers.

Okay thanks. Intralaminar, good place to start. Some what diagnostic and therapeutic.

Keeping you in prayer! Hope all goes well tomorrow!

I sincerely hope you get some relief with this shot. I think sometimes the idea of it all creates more fear in our minds than the procedure itself. I hope this proves to be the case with you as well! Best of luck - you go with many good thoughts and best wishes from all of us!

Everything went fine, Most painful part was laying down took a couple tries to find a way that didn't kill my shoulder/neck,

So glad it is over! Hope you get some good relief!

Watch your sugar levels for the next few days.

Wow, I finally got around to looking up your fancy terminology, @Karl_K, and realized that I have had three of them - two in my neck about a year apart after a car crash I was in - and one in my lower spine. They are a breeze, especially if you don't refuse any helpful meds like pain or relaxation meds. I am sorry I'm just seeing this now, or I would've told you you had nothing to worry about, and potentially a lot to gain, as the shot works on the inflammation over the coming days and (hopefully) improves things. Remember, some of us need more than one for it to take hold!

How are you doing, Karl?

The shot didn't do much if anything my fingers are more numb with a reduction in big lightning bolts.
Its possible fewer lightning bolts are just making me more aware of fingers being numb so hard to say.
Thank you so much for asking.
Sorry for not updating sooner.

Your doctor may want to repeat the injection after a certain amount of time. I had two in a shoulder before I felt relief.

Less lightening bolts sounds like the right direction. Hope things continue to calm down for you and those fingers do too.

Saw the NP who ordered the injection today.
He feels that the shot knocking back the more painful and stronger lightning bolts is significant and good news.
He says I still need surgery if I can get it of course.
He is concerned that a lot of damage may have already been done to the nerves but that the shot made a change points to the nerves being capable of improving.

Meeting with the surgeon on the 13th.

@Karl_K, I’m was so happy to read your update and am glad the lightening shocks are improving. What wonderful news that you were also able to get an appointment with a surgeon on the 13th.

Please keep us posted. There are many people here praying you get aome much needed relief from all of this. You do so much to help everyone here, I wish there was more we could do help you.

Met with Dr. Doppenberg today.. nice guy.
Said more or less that surgery would help but he has a lot of safety concerns due to my health issues.
Sent the info asking for an opinion from my heart and lung doctors.
Nothing further scheduled for now.

Cardiac and pulmonary clearance is standard where I work. Fingers crossed. I see many (most) people status post cervical fusions who have experienced profound relief.
