Hi all,
I was hoping to ask your advice on what you think the best option of these is. My boyfriend wants me very involved in the engagement ring design process, and we were just sent pictures of sapphires to be used as the main stone. The carat sizes are 1.24, 1.24, 1.61, 1.56 and 1.13 respectively. My gut reaction is either the sapphire on the far left or the sapphire that is one from the right. Do you have any opinions? There are two images here: http://imgur.com/sPBCd,oOTFw#0

Thank you for your feedback!

How accurate is the picture for color? From that picture I like the one the second from the left followed by the far left.

The picture is accurate, I appreciate your advice. If I may, what draws you to the one second from the left rather than any on the right? Are light colored sapphires not considered as nice?

The second from the left seems to have the richest blue color without being overly dark. Color is a matter of personal preference and there's nothing wrong with liking a lighter shade of blue. On the plus side, all things being equal, a lighter blue shades should be cheaper than the same size in a deeper shade of blue.

I like the second from the left as well, with my second favorite being the left most.

second from the left seems richest. and something about the leftmost says it is well cut to me. The middle one is dark and seems to maybe be a little more "opaque" and the rightmost two seem two light. (if the coloring of the pictures is accurate)

I agree with others, the second from the left looks like the richest and purest blue.

Is there any chance of selecting other sapphires?

From Left to Right
Stone 1 - I see quite a bit of extinction and the saturation just isn't there. The tone is fine. Surprisingly large tilt window.
Stone 2 - the nicest of the 5, although I will keep looking if you can get more options. Nice saturation, the tone is just right, cutting is decent enough but the sparkle is somewhat dampened by silk.
Stone 3 - A bit darkish in tone, small window that is probably negligible, looks not quite tranparent. Either in need of cleaning or too silky to sparkle much.
Stone 4 - Light in tone and light in saturation. Too much contrast or black areas.
Stone 5 - Looks very similar to Stone 4 other than just a smidge smaller.

You guys are all amazingly helpful, thank you! If I ask to look at more sapphires, what should I ask for? Ones that look similar to the second from the left but that have fewer inclusions? Thank you again.

The second from the left is my favorite, I actually kind of like the silkiness. But silkiness isn't for everyone, how do you feel about it?

Correct - just a little less silky unless you like that quality. I like my stones to sparkle. I don't mind some silkiness as long as it doesn't take away from the sparkle.
