I hope this is okay to ask here. I have been browsing pricescope for months and finally chose a diamond. Somehow there was miscommunication with my soon to be fiance though. I had found a diamond I really wanted and he told me to go ahead and purchase it with our account, so I went ahead and bought it not knowing that he had already purchased another diamond. He thought he could return his diamond, but tonight he told me he has another diamond that the vendor won't let him return. I cannot return mine either at this point, so now we have TWO DIAMONDS!!

I am trying not to be angry with him for not telling me before I bought another diamond, but I am stressed beyond belief because these were very expensive diamonds and I need to figure out what to do asap. Is there some place to safely sell a diamond without losing a ton of money? Will it be hard to sell this diamond? It is GIA certified and I've copied the info below. How much do you think I would be able to sell this diamond for?

I hope it is okay to ask on these forums. Any questions I should not have asked you can just ignore, but any advice at all that someone could give me would be of so much help. I have no idea what to do and thought maybe someone can help me figure out where to begin fixing this huge mess I'm in.

Here's one option:
https://www.pricescope.com/sell-your-diamond

You provide the appropriate information about your diamond, and interested PS vendors offer quotes for purchasing your stone outright. This is a fairly new PS feature, and I haven't seen reports from anyone who has had experience with it yet (which is not to say that we haven't had such postings).

PS vendor Good Old Gold http://www.goodoldgold.com/ sometimes sells diamonds on consignment, as does another favorite among PS'ers, Jewels by Erica Grace http://jewelsbyericagrace.com/ I don't know what their terms for consignment are but someone here probably does, or you could contact them.

To use the pre-loved section you would still have to list the stone somewhere else (it's a way to let PS'ers know you have the item for sale, but you're not allowed to post contact information so there's no way to complete the sale on pre-loved).

Many PS'ers use pre-loved to let people know about items they have listed on diamondbistro http://www.diamondbistro.com/ or loupe troup http://loupetroop.com/, two "jewelry classified" sites. However, for such a large ticket item, I think some people might be concerned about buying from a newcomer to this forum (since a lot of the sale is predicated on trust), which is why I suggested the consignment option earlier. With consignment you're going through a third party that is well known, at least to PSers.

Another option is a site called "I do now I don't" http://www.idonowidont.com/splash2/index.html - it looks like they might buy your stone outright, but again, I have no idea how using this site would compare to using a PS vendor or PS's diamond purchase offer service.

Please let us know what you decide, and how it goes!

You've received great advice, as those would be my suggestions too. Good luck!

You said that you can't return yours 'at this point', does that mean that at some point you will be able to return it? Have you had an opportunity to speak to either vendor and explain the miscommunciation? Perhaps one of them would be willing to take the ring back less a stocking fee? I would think that even paying a hefty re-stocking fee you would save money over the loss you will probably be hit with selling on either ebay of DB. It might be worth considering. Is it possible that you can consign with one of these jewelers? Many will and will take a percentage of the profit, that means that they win twice, so this might be another option. Many people will consign and also list the stone online to maximize potential interest. There is also a pricescope 'sell your diamond' forum, where you can list your diamonds specs and interested vendors can make you an offer. I'm guessing that the offers will be less than you could see on the secondary market, but if you are looking for a quick sale this may be an option as well. Good Luck.

Thank you to everyone that responded! Luckily I was able to get the vendor to take it back without a huge restocking fee. I am SOOOOO relieved. And I seriously love the community on here. I've learned SO much here and you all helped me and my now FIANCE find the perfect diamond. Thank you all!!!
