Need advice on custom making large emerald cut eternity band

Here it is on my right and left hand. The size 8 feels fine. It’s loose, but I wanted that. I feel like I should try to find stones that are closer to 7 mm tall. These are 6 mm and the suite my jeweler found was about 6 mm also.

Looks great on your hand. And seems like a great piece to wear and try out for comfort.

It does look good. I’m hoping he can find the same carat weight at 75-80 pointers with 7mmx4-5mm dimensions. If not I think I’ll still go for the suite he found at 6mmx4mm.

He said the set he found were a killer deal and most sources wanted about 10-15k more than that set. Looks like this is the suite we’re going with! I’m so excited, I can’t believe it’s actually happening!

Thanks so much for all your help everyone! I asked him what the next steps are, and he hasn’t responded. I think it has to go to GIA first and that takes a couple of weeks (not sure, but I think that’s what he said). And then we’ll finalize the size saga. The size 8 has fallen off my finger like 10 times yesterday, but it’s very comfortable. I think I’ll just have him made a 1.5 mm platinum band in a size 6.5-7 to wear on top (I’ll test the sizers on to see which works better).

In terms of sizing, my guess is it'd be easier to have the eternity band slightly too large and made smaller by adding a sizing bar/horseshoe on the inside of the shank, then having it be too tight (then all you could really do is grind out some of the metal inside the shank or do a reset...)

Always go bigger! While I haven't gained any weight over the years my hands have sure changed. My asscher eternity is now a bit "tight".

Yes, I'm terrified if I gain 5-10 pounds I won't be able to wear the ring anymore. I'm definitely wanting to go bigger than make it my actual size now. And I like the look of a looser ring. It's kind of elegant to me for some reason.

My fingers gained about a smidge more than a quarter of a size. So just enough for my rings to start feeling a bit too snug but not really worth resizing everything. I did finally cave and resized my e-ring so I could start wearing it again.

My fingers gained about a smidge more than a quarter of a size. So just enough for my rings to start feeling a bit too snug but not really worth resizing everything. I did finally cave and resized my e-ring so I could start wearing it again.

Having a "jewelry creeper" is the best! I'm truly honored!
I always have pix of futures on my phone and computer.
I do feel that wider rings need to be a tad larger than thin rings.
My ring is snug.. it's best as a 9 month a year ring avoiding the summer.
I joked that I had a bottle of windex ready to help take it off in the summer as per "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" windex reference.
However.. seems to fit as a 12 month a year ring now.
It's almost 11 years old and in those 11 years (I went from age 47 to 5 my fingers have gotten skinnier.
Whatever you decide you will make it work for you.

A customer of his was looking to sell the ring and he knew that we both had size 4 fingers. Price-wise she started high.. I started low.. she came down a little.. I came up a little and eventually about 6 months later we met at a spot that was good for all of us! The story has a happy ending.
