Hi All,

I've been reading forums on the site that have been extremely helpful and now I have a question of my own. We've narrowed down our search and need some advice about diamond inclusions.

Which inclusions are the best/worst: pinpoint, needle, cloud, crystal?

Here are the three diamonds we are considering:

Diamond 1:
1.25 F VS1 - HCA 1.5 ex ex ex very good
Con: Crystal dead center on table.

Diamond 2:
1.20 F VVS2 - HCA 1.3 ex ex ex very good
Con: Needle on table, cloud on side very close to table.

Diamond 3:
1.37 F VVS2 - HCA 1.7 very good ex very good ex
Con: Pinpoint on table, needle on side, and one pinpoint on the pavilion.

I have also attached the reference diagrams of all three diamonds for your view.

Based on these specs, which diamond would you recommend purchasing?

I appreciate any feedback, thanks so much!

IMO...it doesn't matter the type of inclusions when your buying a high clarity VVS stone.

If you could get idealscope images, asets, and a price for each stone it might assist everyone in trying to help you out.

Of the two idealscope pics, #2 looks the best. There is more light leakage on the table of #3.

Any reason why you need to choose a stone with a clarity grade that high? You can get some perfectly eye-clean VS2 and SI1 stones that will either save you a bunch of cash or let you increase the size.

I'm interested in seeing the first image before I weigh in

Thritto, inclusion type makes absolutely no difference re visibility/structural soundness/effect on light return at such high clarities

No from me - super shallow crown + thin girdle = unnecessary chipping risk IMO esp since stone isn't very large
super shallow crown + painting = even less contrast than it'd otherwise have, and that already takes a hit

b/c most Chinese people prefer high color and clarity.. ;))

I pass on #3 bec of the 58% table right off the bat. That #2 IS is nice.

Typically you don't need to worry about inclusions on VS stones- just confirm they are eyeclean

here is the idealscope image for Diamond 1
