Need advice on ring

Looking to get engaged before Christmas and need to decide soon. This ring is about 1 total carats of diamonds not including center stone. The center diamond has to measure at least 6.3mm to fit mount (or look normal in ring?)

Possibly getting a .9 diamond excellent cut, I color, SI2 clarity
Or 1.0 diamond very good cut, I color, SI2 clarity

Would be close to 2 total carats with diamond and they said whichever diamond I choose will be $8000 for ring and diamond.

Wondering if this a good price and thoughts about it. Haven't seen either diamond as I live 3 hours away and busy at work. I want them to have time to get it mounted.

Will be paying cash.

Pretty ring! You need to ask them for the GIA report numbers so we can look them up and tell you if the diamonds are well cut. In addition, you need a written return policy that if you are not satisifed with the diamond, you can get your money back. There is another thread on here right now of a guy who paid cash and really overpaid for his ring and he could not return it. These rush purchases can be dangerous unless you have the right to return for any reason. And I do not mean exchange, I mean return for money back. Under no circumstances should you pay cash without a receipt describing the items and the return policy.

Do you have pictures of the stones? I would only consider excellent cut.

What is the brand of the ring and is it white gold or platinum?

I am finding .90 excellent cut I SI2's for about $3400 with wire payment (and return policy). So that is a pretty expensive setting.

There are no private messages here, but post on this thread and I will try to check it during the day.

I'd ask for GIA report numbers and exact weight of the stones, for magnified photos of the diamonds, and ask about written return policy because you cannot buy a diamond without seeing it first unless there is an unconditional return policy. Then you can compare the stones to similar ones at James Allen or elsewhere to see if prices are in line.
