Hey PSers! I'm thinking of buying my fiancee some emerald studs and am stumped as to where to look...seems to be much less info online than for diamonds. Any pointers would be most welcome. Looking for quality first, but price is a consideration too, of course!

(For diamond studs I am planning to use whiteflash, but I think that would be a better wedding present...just looking for something for Christmas or her birthday right now.)

For quality emeralds, I'd contact Josh at Serenity Diamonds. I've heard that Embassy Emeralds is also a good option although I've never dealt with them.

Thanks to both of you! I'll call Josh and also check out the websites.

Oh wow, no I didn't. Thank you! I'd have to convince the fiancee that preloved is OK...she thinks second hand earrings are icky even though she's a biologist and understands how disinfectant works.

*throws hands up in the air*

Worth a shot though.

Is it the settings she thinks are icky? Would it be worth resetting them into brand new settings if she's open to that option?

The earrings are pretty and priced well, an excellent choice for the budget conscious. Not knowing the paperwork, expect these to be heavily treated and will need special care. I would not be overly concerned that the colours are not an exact match since the head is a good separator.

I'm with your signifigant other on this...second hand earrings are kind of gross. :wavey:

Do you think they're such a good deal that it would be worth buying them and paying to have them reset? I'm thinking not but possibly I don't appreciate how expensive the stones can get or what nice ones these are...

Labour + Metal + Shipping (if sent away) + tax (if not sent away) = Added cost

The other risk you are taking is also not knowing the type of treatment and the level of treatment. Knowing that, you'll know to care for it without damaging the emerald.

I don't know if its against the rules for me to post in this thread, but since I didn't "promote" the earrings in this thread, I'm hoping not. I'm the seller of the earrings. I feel very confident that these earrings have not been treated with anything but the typical oiling that happens to almost all emeralds. I have a 3 day inspection period offered on the emeralds so that if the buyer doesn't *like* them, they can return them, but I'm happy to offer a longer return period, within reason, if the buyer would like to have the emeralds inspected so as to confirm that they have not been heavily treated. Say, a 1 month timeframe, perhaps? I would not pay for the cost of the inspection/cert but I would offer a full refund less shipping if they turned out to be anything other than oiled.

As for hygiene issues, I totally understand, but would it help to know that these were only worn ONCE, for about 4 hours? LOL :) I discovered I am sensitive to white gold and can't wear it in my ears. I now have my stud earrings made in platinum.

Talked it over and decided to get one of the pairs on the Mineral Miners site. Sorry, Tara, I really appreciate your piece and the offer, but she prefers unworn and prefers yellow gold and she gets what she wants. Such is life!
