OK need help please. Went to a local place call diamond direct and she saw a Paul Winston ring and band that she likes with the following diamond that she likes. See attached pics. What are your thoughts on quality and price? Something like this is what she wants. Band and Ring were 4mm which she likes the look of the bigger width ring on her finger.

I thought about you when I was in Sam's Club today I saw their half carat diamond band for $599 and thought it looked much better than the Blue Nile one.

Did she try looking on eBay for "PWJ" under Jewelry & Watches (the broad category - not just under engagement rings) to see if you can find something she likes? PWJ looks like it stands for Paul Winston Jewelry from the Paul Winston ring I pulled up. You will need to search item and description of course. I like to use the quote marks myself. Also, did she look at any Leo Diamond rings? They sell a lot of Princess cut diamonds and they sell for about half of the retail price on eBay frequently. You just need to make sure and look at the card and pick one with the best specs that you can. I have a pair of Leo diamond earrings that I bought that way and I'm quite happy with them. I would have of like to afford a pair of hearts and arrow earrings but my budget wouldn't allow that so I did the best I could with what I had to spend.

I'm thinking you might find a starter set and then upgrade the diamond down the road to something larger or nicer if or when you can afford it. Some settings allow a new head to be put in so that you can use a larger diamond. I've had the head on my ring replaced about 4 times because of the prongs being bent.

That being said - I bought my daughter a diamond band from eBay and those diamonds were cut really well and it blows all my diamonds away, so I can see what they are talking about. I just lucked out on that. If you see a perfectly cut diamond against a good cut diamond you will see what they are talking about, and you will never question the boards "Cut is King" cry again.

I don't think that's a great deal. It is too dangerous. You never know the true color/clarity of the diamond.

OK. Does the appraisal info he imaged say much about the quality of the diamond?

No. I don't even know if the appraisal is from an independent appraiser. I am sure that the appraisal value is inflated.
