need gift ideas-friend turning 50..

I need a gift idea for a friend who is turning 50. The party is next weekend, so I have to get busy.
She lives in LA, but the party will be in Texas, so the gift has to be packable. I don''t want to do a
gag gift. Budget under $200.00. She is well traveled, into theater, a singer and let''s just say,
money no problem. I''m at a loss. Any ideas?

Oh, tough one ... just brainstorming, but possibly tickets for a show she hasn''t seen? A bottle of luxurious perfume you think she''d like? A gorgeous Hermes scarf? A classic silver picture-frame with a memorable shot of the two of you?

thanks Circe, I''m coming up blank. I''ve been cruising the Neiman''s, Saks and Nordtrom web sites for ideas.
She is a hip 50 for sure. I haven''t been around her in a few years, so that makes it doubly hard. But our hubbies
are business partners. Maybe I should up the price. I was kinda thinking about a nice clutch bag. I just don''t
know her taste. uhhh...

Would you want to get her something as a keepsake or just a fab gift for her 50th? How about a newspaper from the day and year she was born? I recently got my friend The Times paper from the day she and her husband got married last year - it did happen to tie in though with the whole paper/first anniversary thing though, but I think it is kinda cool and a little bit different.
