Hi all,

I'm trying to choose from 3 sapphires that are all really different in color. They are similar in price, carat and clarity. All are heated, but no BE or other treatments.

I did this mock up to see if it would help me choose easier. It's a lousy attempt at photoshopping LOL, so forgive me. I have several pictures of each stone loose as well, so let me know if posting those would be helpful.

Thanks!

We will need more info and better pictures to accurately help you decide.

At first glance sapphire one appeals to me most, I think its the facet pattern that's doing the appealing.

Without looking at any other info, aesthetically, I like the middle stone best. I am drawn to Madagascar sapphires because of the rich, royal blue (sometimes even a sniff of purple in there). They are generally darker in color but if there is not a large amount of extinction, you might see me swoon. Well, that's my opinion. Good luck with your hunt. :wavey:

Based on your pics and without having any other info, I like stone #2 best.

Based on the picture, my order of preference is 2, 1, 3.

I like the middle stone the least, too much extinction. The first stone is more blue than the third stone which is more purple, but they have around the same amount of extinction. None of them really scream sapphire color to me, especially Madagascar material, and they all remind me of typical violet spinels. Very grey and dark in tone. I would not halo any of them because it would only darken the stone. I hope they are not too expensive because material like that shouldn't be, even if unheated.

I never heard this about Madagascar sapphires. In fact, I have typically seen the opposite, many are lighter in tone.

Australian sapphires tend to be darker in tone.

Thank you for your responses!

I can't figure out how to edit my original post. If will post more late this afternoon. I need to leave.

I am now considering this 1.12ct stone which is around $700 and 5.9x5.7. Thoughts?

Also, this AGTA certified, unheated and untreated one. 1.14ct, VVS, 6.5x5.4, $800.
