Did the Idealscope come with the practice CZ? If so, play with that until you get use to the positioning of the stone.

Lack of arrows/patterning might be due to positioning of the stone resulting in lack of contrast or just the cut of the stone not being that symm.

Lack of contrast is probably due to the stone being too far away from the scope, the table of the stone should sit flush with the edge of the scope.

Should be ok with the video camera, just place it the same as you would use a camera as shown on the idealscope webpage.

If your diamonds are not that well cut you will not see the perfect patterning. But also play around with it moving the diamond closer and further from the scope until it is in focus before you draw any conclusions.

Thanks guys!

I am going to try to get those images up in the next two days. I can''t wait to see -

I will post the pics in this thread when I can get them done.

Thanks again!

I have another question.

I have my current diamond ring in its setting. How am I supposed to take the picture? I don''t have one of those back lights. I see where you put it in a tweezer- but then how do you take the picture without it being on the backlight?

thanks so much,

deb

Does Anyone know who makes this setting? The picture didn''t paste but Tyty333, can you help me??

Here is the post that I found and pasting here word for word posted by tyty333:

I favor cushion shaped halos on rounds. Especially rounds that are that large (lucky you!) Someone once said
they start to look like hugh flying saucers when you put round halos on big round stones. I dont necessarily follow
this but I definitely like rounds with cushion halos.

LFVDoll''s is my favorite. This is a double halo. Probably more of a halo then you are looking for but beautiful none
the less (thats an understatement). Hope she doesnt mind me reposting her ring...I''m still lusting over it!

Her main stone is 1.94.

Update:

I heard from Jonathan from GOG and Marie- we are in the process of searching for a new diamond either round 1.4 or octavia asscher.

QUESTION:

I received my idealscope in the mail. I looked thru it with my ring (It is currently a 5 stone setting) and I don''t see any distinct arrows or patterning. Is this normal? I also see some leakage.

Is it ok to take a picture with my video camera on picture mode? Our other camera is missing the memory card.

I can''t wait to post my current diamonds so I can tell what I am looking at.

I will take a pic - as soon as I hear back from someone on my questions.
Practise with the IS but it is also possible the stone is not showing distinct arrows.

There is a suggestion on how to photograph set diamonds.
If that do not work well, looks like you need multiple hands for that if you do not have a good tweezer, I would try the upside down method.

Thanks for that information Laila. It looks bulkier in that pic than it does in the hand picture.

I will keep trying with the Idealscope.

The video camera has a squareish opening to the idealscope doesn''t fit quite right. I am working on it.

I will post pictures of the ring later on - and try to get the hang of the idealscope ones too.

LFVDoll''s ring is a Stardust Diamonds setting.

Hi debie,
I LOVE LFVDoll''s ring! However, I dont think you can put a wedding band up against that. Are you ok with that?
LFVDoll actually got a RH wedding band (that is also gorgeous).

Keep us posted.

tyty-

I think if I get that ring I would just wear one ring and not need a wedding band.

Do you have any other ideas for a square halo using a round stone (1.4c) or octavia asscher(1.5-1.7c) stone I haven't ruled out the Octavia yet.

Can you take a look on my first link to the engagement ring that I like- this ring looked really good on my hand- but I cannot find anything like it anywhere. Its from The Sylvie Collecton- and Good Old Gold has never heard of it.

I don't know why my links are not working. I am using the space bar!!
