I am doing some research for my son. The attached photo shows the ring she loves. Can anyone assist me with a designer or where to start to find one like this? I have looked at many sites and know the basics, but I am unfamiliar with designers and I can't seem to distinguish between designs that are so similar.
Also, how large of a center stone would it take to be beautiful, but not showy? His wife-to-be is petite and has small hands (size 5).

Any advice/suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Where did she find that picture? The diamond looks like it's an AVC by GOG (August Vintage Cushion cut by Good Old Gold). So that's a good clue of where the setting MAY have come from...I'm sure someone will recognize it.

She got the photo on Pinterest.

Thats most likely an avc or one of those other stones like that reproductions of antique cushions, probably a regular harry winston style halo, done by good bench sense that a very delicate halo. Steven kirtch, victor canara, or leon mege.

Good point nielseel. The cushion is a repro antique most likely, GOG isn't the only one to do so. Diamonds by Lauren and VIctor Canera have their own versions of antique cushions.

I'd look at the sites nielseel suggested - there's so many similar style halos out there. That one in particular is very delicate and makes me think custom like SK, VC or LM.

ETA: Use the search bar at the top and type in one of those designers. It'll bring up their top three styles, all of which include a delicate halo like that. The SK version has an awesome undergallery!

Here is the original pinterest link. Jon from GOG confirmed (not that the regulars here couldn't tell) that it was in fact an AVC. The wedding blog that posted it stated that it was a Leon Mege setting but he does not set AVC stones any longer.

There was a thread a few months ago about alternatives that would offer the same look as far as the setting goes: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/looking-for-unique-ring-avc-poh-and-rose-gold-halo.179786/

MommaD what is your son's budget?

He is probably only able to spend $6,000.

I would second the suggestion to have him read the Cushion 101 thread posted above. It has a lot of good information on where to go for the stone and the setting. For his budget, I think Engagement Rings Direct would be a great place for him to get both stone and setting worked in with the amount he is comfortable spending.
