I am purchasing for Blue Nile and they do not provide IdealScope images. I really like this diamond in terms of Color, Clarity, Carat Weight, etc. I just want to make sure the cut is ideal. The diamond has NOT been rated Blue Nile Signature Series, but I''ve seen some of their signature series diamonds which do not grade well on the HCA.

What am I to make of this report? She I be concerned that the Sarin numbers do not match the GIA cert?

(I''m going to buy a ring, and just hold off, for any of you who read my earlier poll).

Would you be willing to purchase without an idealscope if it were GIA EX, EX, EX and the HCA on the GIA and Sarin numbers produced a 1.3 TIC? I think need an expert on this one to explain how reliable the HCA is for a well-proportioned stone. I have the perception that HCA is more reliable high symmetry diamonds. Is this correct?

Here''s the Sarin report.

Numbers look promising.

promising enough to buy the thing without an idealscope?

At that size, yes. But really depends on your level of comfort, if you want to be safe, just buy from a vendor that provides idealscope images.

I agree.

At that size?

That may have come across wrong. How does size affect light performance? I am unable to find a vendor with a diamond that meets these specifications that provides an idealscope. I''ve been looking for three years. This is the first time I found someone who at least provides a Sarin along with the cert. GOG and Whiteflash haven''t had anything with similar specs in quite some time.

JamesAllen?

What is your budget and specs you are looking at?

By size, we mean actual size, these IS images are blown up images and monocular vision. At real size, 5.6mm diameter, with our binocular vision, slight leakage will be much less obvious.

Looking for .65-.70, D, VVS1, Ideal Cut, Ex Polish, Ex Symmetry (I like the look of a 1.0-1.3 HCA and would prefer an AGS0, 000). Budget is <$4000.

Have you considered an E or F?

I don''t like the idealscope on that one and would really prefer a D, VVSI. I know an F or a VS2 are eye clean and colorless, but I need mind clean. She doesn''t want anything bigger than a .75 carat, so I want to knock her socks off with everything else.

What is wrong with that idealscope image in your opinion?

Depends on you, as I said, it is doable in your budget and specs but there is no stone around at the moment with Idealscope.

What Stone said. I was looking at .60s and was comparing an ideal/Ex cut to a VG cut. I could see the difference when I took them into many different lighting environments.... but *just*, and I know what I am looking for. The diamond you are considering is better cut than the one I was comparing that was VG, so odds are it will be more than acceptable.

Will she care about VVS? Does she know what clarity refers to? I only ask because you can get a D, that will look amazing, but buying a super-ideal cut, perhaps branded H&A diamond would be more impressive than a VVS1 clarity in terms of everyday apearance.

Also, if she had been waiting for 3 years maybe she would rather have an E color now than a D color in another six months
