Need help please -- spray paint on diamond

Is there any way to remove spray paint off gf''s diamond ering? The setting is made of platinum. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I've never tried, but I'd try rubbing alcohol first. If that doesn't work, try dabbing on a bit of nail polish remover with a cotton swab.

We just got engaged so we're a little apprehensive about "hurting" the diamond. I suppose it's safe to assume that alcohol and finger nail polish is harmless on diamond & setting.

Additional inquiry: Do you think an ultrasonic cleaner would clean the paint off? Thx!

Take my vote for that nail plish remover... it would do no harm to diamonds, although it does to nails

It works to sink the ring in the stuff 5 min an dthen try to remove the liquefied paint (if any is still hanging on and hasn't disolved in the solution yet) with a piece of cotton. Soap an water takes care of the rest.

you will not hurt the diamond or the platinum.
The strongest acids will hurt neither

Paint stripper is fine to use

If it's latex based,....... You can soak the ring in water and remove the paint by rubbing after the ring has soaked for a bit. Latex based paint will soften when it gets wet. Otherwise, try nail polish remover, acetone. There is also a product called "Oops" that might work too. It's a paint remover available in the hardware/paint section of most Department stores.
