I saw this H&A AGS 000 RB online. It only scored a 2/Very Good on HCA. I realize that's a rejection tool not selection tool, but not sure why the discrepancy. Do you think based on the images and specs it's a top performer? What tools if any should I use to make the final selection, besides my own eyes? Thank you!

Gorgeous!

Woah, looks fantastic!

You don't use HCA on AGS Ideal cut stones. AGS has graded it ideal for light performance and the images look great!

Good to hear, thanks guys! Do you think a stone of that size and SI1 will be eye clean? Also a little concerned about J color, but I'm told ideal cuts mask color well. Looking for something big, bright and sparkly in everyday life (normally diffuse light through window).

I thought all BGD were eye-clean. You will see color from the side, and from the top in certain lighting situations, but that doesn't make it less beautiful.

Looks beautiful! No worries! Congrats on your 3ct+ stunner! :appl:

YOWZERS! That's a GORGEOUS stone! Really a beauty - nice AGS report, IS and awesome size! As you pointed out, the HCA is a rejection not a selection and a 2 is still worth further investigation.

That is a pretty sweet diamond - I'd go for it if it was in my budget!!

I'm having 2nd thoughts about the stone. It's really bigger than what I wanted (3 cts) and I'm not sure about the J color (really wanted a G or H ). I don't mind fancy colored stones but it's gotta be either or - white or colored - not in between. The closest approximation I could find is this one:

What do you think of it compared to the first stone? Any rec's for other stones? It doesn't have to be BGD or H&A - just perfectly cut. What are other good web sites to get AGS Ideal (ideal cut & symmetry - polish can be excellent/v. good as I think that probably doesn't effect the look much). I know Whiteflash is popular here but there prices seem a bit high, no?

I am not sure *I* would notice a difference between the original (GORGEOUS) J you posted vs the new I. To me, unless you are setting them side by side, I don't think I would be able to notice a difference, but I am not as colour sensitive as others are. Both look amazing. I think you'd be happy with either one... but I'm still VERY enamoured with your first stone (J).

I think they both look beautiful. I think it's going to come down to personal preference for you. If I were choosing a modern stone, I probably wouldn't go below I (but if someone were going to give me a stone and say "hey- it's larger but it's gonna be a J" I'm probably not going to say no either. :naughty: ) I is where color starts to bother be, but I'd take it as a trade off for size, if I were looking, even though my personal preference is G/H. You may or may not feel they same about J.

I forgot to check if either of them have fluor...

I think this one looks like like it would be more mindclean for you on the color. And since you don't need 3 carats I think maybe it would be a good choice.

Both are gorgeous stones, my word!! I think the I and J will appear very similar, except one sever so slightly larger. For the price and color peace of mind the "I" is a great deal. If its for the size go for the other.. its a win win situation!

Gosh this is tough. Would anyone be willing to say what fair/competitive prices would be for each one? Is an extra .389 ct worth an additional $6,673? Just so I'm clear, no one thinks the cut of one or performance is better than the other? Thank you all!

All three are stunning! if you're spending this kind of money, I'd get the color and clarity you want. Seems like you have the cut down, they all look gorgeous...

It's a huge price jump to get the color & clarity I want. Can't have it all I'm afraid ::) Priorities in order of importance are 1. Cut/performance 2. Size 3. Color 4. Clarity. It looks like the 3.23 ct has some large crystals & clouds on the table & crown (I can't really see it w/the virtual loupe, just on the report). This will affect brilliance right?

Rarely, but you should double check with the vendor on that.
