Good afternoon folks! While beginning my shopping for engagement rings and their stones I ended up here :)
I have been talking to Leon Mege's gem guy Perry and he presented me with a 2.5 carat rectangular cushion yellow sapphire that measures approximately 9x6.8 mm and costs $2,100.
Attached is the picture.

It has not been heat treated or treated in any way.

Thoughts? Help? Eek!

Eh....no hand shots? Looks like a medium sized window to me. With the background being cropped and being able to guess the lighting condition, who knows what it looks like in person. It would be helpful to either have a hand shot or even held up in tweezers against a natural backdrop.

Thanks Chrono. You are right about the lighting.
Does the front head of the stone look really foggy/blurry to you?
I asked if he would be able to provide me with a video as well. Leon mentioned that's a bit more helpful. I live in Rochester and NYC where they are located is around 6 hours. I wanted to try to get a feel for it from home first.

Any other yellow sapphire tips?

The fogginess you see is the windowing of the sapphire due to poor cutting, the outer part of the stone will be lively but the center will be see-through and dead.

Agree that's a rather large window. Can't believe they're trying to sell you that.

That stone needs a recut, STAT!!

And you absolutely must insist on an AGL report which confirms that the stone has not been heated/treated.

Hephzibah I would pass on this one. For that money you should be able to find a Yellow Sapphire with at better cut. What is the cut depth of this sapphire? I am doubtful that a re-cut could save it.
