Need inspiration help for round blue stone

Yup, the shields look best with the supernova oval.

Prong set, right? I think a more open setting will be good for BB even though the basket of that antique setting is fabulous.

Almost forgot to mention that I love the baguette band. It looks really great in the close up picture.
Yes, prong set, likely 4 prongs. Since it is medium dark, I figure I should let as much light in as possible!

Thanks! I'm pretty pumped about the band. It was a bit of a gamble, but it totally paid off.

Freke, you've got darn good taste! I love just about every ring in your inspiration folder. Would you mind downloading them all to my computer? :Up_to_something:

I too love the tapered look, especially when it has a delicate, antique feel to it, so my vote is something along those lines. I can take or leave the cuffs. If I were to include them, I'd make them subtle and milgrained or somehow in keeping with the rest of the tapered design so they don't appear as barriers at the end of the road, so to speak. :))

I adore the colour of your Big Blue! However I can see why another setting might show it off more.

Who was the guy who used the MC2 for inspiration for a sapphire engagement ring? Can't remember the poster or vendor...great on the details aren't I  It's possible to do something like that if you wanted to keep the costs down. I love that ring.

Will it be white gold?

Honestly, I think this would look terrible on you no matter how it is set. It would look MUCH better on my hand.

I think he used JBEG for his sapphire ring with the MC2 as his inspiration design.

Big Blue is my most favorite spinel of ALL time and I can't wait to see what you do with her!!!! Your Mom's diamond looks SO pretty in her new setting, too!

Where did you find that awesome baguette ring?????

I've missed you Liz....HUGS!

Thanks Chrono...SteveNeedsARing...how could we forget 16 pages of it! His completion thread just popped up again.

Some pics of a variety of settings I played with today.

My thoughts later (having to pack, last night in Chicago and flying 4 hours with a 1 year old tomorrow - sleep is necessary). Feel free to comment!

Ooh...didn't you have fun :))

FWIW I really like your round in the cushion double halo and also the next setting with mini halo and pear sapphires(?). This looks really different and I like it but only you would know if the sapphires are a sufficient match. The other settings with side diamonds seem not to stand out so much for me and the split shank is going back to something very similar to the setting it was in.

Hope the trip was good and both you and your little one were calm and contented.

My oao just admired big blue! Me too.

I like the double shank even though it looks like your original setting because the addition of sparkle is in keeping with stone. I know your original had milgrainng but it wasn't so fluid somehow. The last examples show the need for either sizeable side stones or maybe just a bit of glitter so bb shows like a solitaire.

I loved your original setting and also like the split-shank pave that you posted last. I like that it's somewhat similar to your original split-shank - there's some nice sentimentality in that.

I love all of your choices. I think it would look smashing with pear sides ala this Leon:

Did you try on settings in Chicago? Do you mind my asking where you like to go? I'm a Chicagoan with a bit of a colored stone addiction starting!

Lol. I have three that I'm hoarding. This one, another precision oval, and a "native" cushion.

ETA: Plus another, but that'll be a necklace, and it just got removed from it's setting. The cushion will probably be a necklace too.

Freke, if you decide you need to reduce your stash to fund this project, PLEASE let me know! Your collection is like my dreams came to life!

ETA: In terms of settings for Big Blue, however, I really love it with the pear sides or pave split shank!

LD, are these kind of what you were thinking?
