Need mucho help finding the right diamond and setting

Look back at that link you posted in your first post. That is a J color modern cushion. In the avatar picture, you can see the slight tint of the J. If she liked that and the slight tint didn't bother her, you can get a larger J stone which I think will look better in the halo.

Sorry for the double post. It won't let me delete the second one for some reason.

That 1.5 J modern cushion is just so much bigger than this last one, I am not sure it is a good move to go that small since size clearly is an issue for her.

yea the size is definitely smaller

Measurements: 7.08 x 6.86 x4.45 vs 6.43 x 6.15 x 3.97

Surprisingly the 1.12 has the dimensions of a 1.25-1.3 carat cushions that i've checked out and it's top heavy. It had a nice size crown ( if that's what you call it ). Which makes it larger than it's carat size indicates.

The 1.12 may have a high crown due to being an antique style cushion, but that does not make the stone look larger. It just has more weight in the crown, but it does not increase the diameter.

Length and Width is comparable to a 1.25-1.3 cushion. Height of the stone isn't as high though.

compared to this 1.16 avc
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9055/ this stone above is actually slightly bigger length / width, while the avc has more height to it.

also to you last post. she loves the setting, but did not like the hue on the stone. Hence why i'm looking at alternatives. The modern cut above was more towards an I and the tint wasn't as noticeable. I guess it faced up more white.

also what are your thoughts on the Brellia Hearts and Arrow cushions ?
She thinks that if going for a 1.12 she rather get a 1.02-1.08 ish brellia hearts and arrows.

A Brellia is a top performing stone and would be very nice in a halo. I would have to see how their size compares to the antique style.

You are welcome! I added a third one, too! You'll be in good hands with Jonathan, and I think it will REALLY help to see the AVCs, Brellia, and modern cushions side by side. I think if she sees them, she will have a preference.

I will add that the stones you'll be looking at at GOG are just going to be better cut than that 1.12. It is only "good"on symmetry and I am not very happy with that on most stones.

GOG was actually the first place we went to check out cushions after seeing his youtube videos. We didn't get to talk with Jonathan when we first made the visit though.

what's your thoughts on

or

Beautiful! But I'd go with G VS2 over I IF because you'll see the color difference and probably can't see the clarity difference.

I would love to see those next to the modern cushions just posted. They face up smaller than the modern cushions, unfortunately.

Leaky and not enough red in the ASET.

Also this is another stone.

The 1.244 I/VS2 has a great ASET and looks to be a nice compromise between size and color. It also has a great antique faceting pattern. Looks to be a very nice choice!

Yea I love way the old antique cushions look.

JA told me it's eye clear and faces up white.

I do like this one as long as she likes antique cushions as well as modern. This one still faces up smaller than a 1 ct round, though. I am only mentioning this because the ring she loved had a 3.4 ct modern cushion. She needs to be sure she likes the look of a much smaller stone in that setting.

yea she prefers the chunkier facets. gog youtube videos kinda set the standard and she dislikes the crushed ice appearance.

I totally agree with that!

I am married for 26 years and have upgraded changed and muttled over diamonds for years. My current stone is a 3.66 emerald ideal cut H color and s1 quality. in a 1" wide Platinum band with two side trillions.

Your stone being in the 1 -1.25 size I would make sure you have an ideal cut stone that is first and foremost. Then color then clarity. so I would go with the I - Vs1 1.20 with ideal cut. although I would prefer G-H color you have to compromise somewhere.

When you get the stone be sure to go outside in the daylight to see the sparkle. Then hold it under your kitchen table and see if there is fire there as well. The only place you don't want to evaluate sparkle is in a jewelry store.

Any of the three stones you've highlighted are good however again Having had experience platinum and ideal cut is key.

You did good perfect selection

I can't wait to see the final ring, it's going to be a stunner!
