Need opinions on the following E color pear shape diamond
Weight 2.83
Color E
clarity SI2
cut excellent - I've seen this diamond a few websites and they all say excellent cut-not sure how that is determined on a pear shaped diamond?
depth 59.90
table 61
polish vg
Symmetry vg
girdle thin-tk
culet sl
fluorescence faint
Measurements 12.90x7.79x4.67
ratio 1.66
Price/carat 8245
GIA # 16820899

2.83 GIA report: https://myapps.gia.edu/ReportCheckPortal/getReportData.do?&reportno=16820899&weight=2.83

I've been told that this diamond is eye clean. Proportions look good. Nice table lenght, slight fluorescence, etc. Diamond is being held and sent to my jeweler who will very that it is eye clean. Love the fact that it also is an E color. What is the opinion of the pros?

It's really impossible to judge fancy cuts based on the numbers alone. Can you get ASET images and magnified images?

I am dealing with Solomon Bros and will have to ask them.

They dont grade pear shapes that way.

Whats the return period. Because if they wont give you pics to see if they fit your setting or if the bowtie is bad why not just get it sent to you and look

Dont grade pear diamonds what way? ASET? I didn't think so. In any event Solomon Bros is having the stone shipped to their office tomorrow as they want to verify that the diamond is eye clean. they are also to look at the bow tie and report back to me.

In the way I bolded in your OP, they dont grade pears as "excellent" or "Ideal".

I know GIA does not grade cuts on fancy stones, but I see it all over the net including this website. Doing a search for pears on pricescope lists various vendors displaying cut grades that include excellent, very good and fair. Just wonder how the vendor is classifying the cut this way? By wishful thinking or is by analytical measurements?

I always assume its based on how well the symm and pol score. Either way, dont take too much stock how they rank them like that. I mean now JA doesnt even let you select the cut when looking at fancies.
