Need some creative suggestions in naming my company!

Dee Jay, I'd seriously use a name that you could use in the future in case you wanted to either do some other kind of work (such as consulting, etc.) or open your own firm.

My vote would either be D. Lastname, inc., or first name, middle initial, lastname, inc.

So I must be the most boring person on the planet because it's looking like "The MyLastName I, Inc." is the best thing I can come up wiith. [That's a Roman numeral "1" BTW, not a capital "i"] Or maybe "The MyLastName I Corporation". (Not that that's much different... )

How sad is that?

I always thought I was relatively creative until now!

(Actually, if you knew my last name and said this out loud rather than read it there could be some word play, but it's is pretty subtle. SO subtle actually that I might be the only person on the planet who ever recognizes it LOL!)

ETA: The MyLastName Enterprise Group, Inc. just popped into my head too -- what do you think of that? It sounds a little grandiose...

Artemis was the Goddess of wilderness and animals, so how about Artemis Realty?

Cerberus Realty in honor of Cerberus (or Kerberos) the three headed DEMON dog that guarded the Greek underworld of Haides maybe? Is that mean enough?

Sirius Realty for the dog of constellations, the Canis Major. I thought she was the dog of Orion, or Zeus' dog, but I can't keep this pooch straight.

That's all I can think of with dogs and myths...

Oh! My MIL just opened up a whole new idea to me -- I.M. FillinInTheBlank

So, I.M. MyLastName, Inc.

I just looked on the Secretary of State site and there are a LOT of cute I.M. XXXXXXX names! Eg., I.M. Free, I.M. Homes, I.M. Ready, that sort of thing.

Hmmm... have to explore this a little farther!

Ideas?!?

Dee Jay, are you ever going to put this on a business card or is it just going to be filed somewhere? Because it needs to be a more classy name if you ever expect to use it on anything. However, if no one will ever see it, then I guess you can be as creative as you want!

*At this point* it''s nothing but a tax reducing entity, but I can see the possitility of it becoming more "public" in the future, which has me thinking more along the lines of not doing something cute.

I think right now the front runners are:

The MyLastName Enterprise Group, Inc.
The MyLastName I Corporation (so say it The MyLastName "one" corporation)
I.M. MyLastName, Inc.

(In that order)

I actually did have a corporation about 10 years ago that has been dissolved but the name is too specific, which is why I''m not just reactivating it.

Generic = boring, but I think it''s unfortunately the way to go at this point...

Well I have committed to calling the accountant tomorrow and giving her an answer.

I liked MyLastName Enterprises, Inc., too, but it's already taken so I think my #1 choice is The MyLastName Enterprise Group, Inc., with The MyLastName I Corporation as a #2 choice and I.M. MyLast Name Inc. #3.

I don't know what I'll do if for some reason I can't have any of those... I have been looking on the Secretary of State to make sure I don't pick something that's already taken site but the accountant won't know for sure if something is available until she calls in person.

Who knew this was going to be such a PITA?!

I haven''t read the whole thread but it is so hard making decisions on your own company (name, logo, identity...) I really like creative names and my co. name is VERY different but it gets remembered. Also it lead itself to a nice logo. I *personally* do not like company names with actually names in them. I prefer something more creative. What I did was write down random words you like and try adding two or three together. Something will stick out.

Tacori, my last name actually lends itself to a use like this, and it''s good for word play too. (I know this all sounds so etherial without actualy putting my real name out there but obviously I''m not going to do that.) I do agree with you though, which is why I kept trying to go the route of the Demon Dog in the beginning, LOL!
