Well, I have an appointment at David''s Bridal Sunday. My BM are getting their dresses from there and if by some miracle I can find my dress there, we all get a discount. So, I figured why not try and save my girls some money. They have a ton of dresses I like, though only a handful that are what I want, and they have one I''m absolutely in love with. They have 7 dresses I like, but I can only pick three to try on this time. I need your help in narrowing this list down. I don''t have any decent pictures of myself to give you an idea of what might look good on me, but I''m a size 8 with an average build and I''m 5''9". We''re doing an outdoor (possibly beach) wedding, so I don''t want something too heavy or hot. So please, tell me what your favorites out of these are.

#1-My favorite
#2-Simple, but I like it a lot
#3- I think this one would be good for the beach
#4- I love this one, but I''m not sure if I''ll like all the lace in person
#5- Not sure I''m liking the different color on the front
#6- Cute, but maybe not me
#7-Love the draping

My favorites are 1, 3 and 7. Why can you only try three? That sounds a bit ridiculous to me... You should be allowed to try as much as you want! Sometimes you can see something on the rack or on a model and think it wouldn''t look good on you, but when you try it on you really can see if it fits or not.

I love #1, #3 and #7! I believe aphisig has your #2 and has posted pics of her in it if you would like to check them out.

Interesting that they will only let you try on 3 dresses. When i went i think i probably tried everything they had in my size!

I like #1 and #3 and I am partial to #6 because that''s the one I am looking at!

The lace may be too much on #4, but overall I think all of them would work for an outdoor/beach wedding. The only concern I would have is keeping the train as short as possible. Don''t want to get it dirty!

Funny, I am going to David''s Bridal this weekend also. Didn''t want to miss out on their $99 sale. Hopefully there will be something I like and in my price range!

Good luck and let us know if you find anything!

I like #5 best, it''s different from the "cookie cutter" dress styles. I also like #6 and its draping, but it might be a bit too cute if you''re tallish.

#1 is too plain for me, and I don''t love the V-shaped nick in the band on #2.

#3 is very plain. #4 has too much lace for me too, I''m just not a wedding-lace person, I''d rather have embroidery. So I do like #7, which has nice draping and embroidery.

You have to try them all on though, you can''t pick The One from photos. Once you''ve got The One on, it will tell you itself.

3, 4 and 6 are my favorites! Take pictures of yourself in them if you can!!

Oh! Also I''m 99% sure I heard somewhere that you can get #5 all in white if you want! Ask when you''re there if you think you''d like it better that way! (Although my friend has that one and I must say I like the two-tone a lot better in person!)

I''m not sure why you can only try on three dresses, because I would try them all on. The dresses will look different on you and I would hate to think that you might have missed the perfect dress because you didn''t like how it looked in the picture. I went to David''s Bridal and was allowed to try on as many dresses as I wanted.

I tried on #3 when I went to David''s and it was actually one of my faves!! It fit me very well, and it was super comfortable, not too heavy and hot!! I also tried on #4 and it was really pretty. Very girly. But my vote is #3, I really liked it in person!

I like #1 and #5!

Chick, #5 is my dress, the colors are not that different. On the website the champaigne color looks kind of pinkish but it's not in person, it's just slightly darker than the ivory.

The only thing I don't like about the dress is that darn flower in front, so I'm having it removed and getting a pretty broach in it's place.

Oh and selflove has the same dress but her's is all white.

They are all pretty dresses but guess what one is my favorite?

ETA: I bought headband style # 8883 and it looks perfect with the dress. The veil I got was style # 642, I think, in ivory...the color of the veil is closer to the champagne and looks kind of antique-y. I love it!!!

I agree with the others- try on more- hey it doesn''t hurt to ask! I love #1 and #5. Really- we need to see pics on you- so take some this weekend!

Xchick-
Just 10 minutes ago I saw number 1. It''s really lovely in person.
I hope you can try on more than 3, it''s really hard to know from the pictures.
Good luck!

I like 1, 2 and 5 the best, by far!

They told me I could only pick out 3. Maybe because its a Sunday and they close earlier? I thought it sounded strange, too.
33.gif
I might have to go in more than once to try them all on.

I think I am leaning towards #1, 2, and 5, especially if I could get it in all white. I really like 7, too. I''ll definitely try to take pictures of the ones I try on so you can see how they all look on. No matter how many other dresses I look at, I keep going back to #1. I don''t know why, but I''m just in love with it. #3 is actually one my FI picked out from the catalog, but I''m not sure how its going to look on. I have a feeling it won''t look as good as it does in the picture, at least not on me.

And for those of you who have any of the dresses I''m considering, I''d love to see any pictures you have.

I really like that veil and I was already looking at that headband, too! I think it''d look really great with that dress or #1.

I think it's off too that David's said only 3 per visit? I tried on 4 the day that I decided on #5....odd.

ETA: I don't have any pictures of my in the dress...my mom and my aunts do, I can try to get them. BTW, I look nothing like the model in my dress.

#5 is mine in all white, with the flower removed and a brooch in its place. If you try it on and like the fit, I can show you pics of it all in white (b/c DB does NOT have pics of it all in white which is odd but true).

They will only allow three dresses? RIDICULOUS! I tried on at least 5-8 dresses each of the 3 times I visited David''s Bridal. What poor service! I would just ignore the 3 dress policy and ask for more once you get there and talk to a manager if you have to.

As for the ones you chose: 2 & 5 wouldn''t look right on the beach, too formal. 1 & 4 would look great for the beach.

I love #7!

I like 1, 4, 5, and 7.

Why can you only try on 3? My dress was from David''s. I made an appt, had a list of style numbers I wanted to try on, and burned through those. She also brought some extras in similar styles to try on. You have an hour, right? It doesn''t take 20 minutes per dress!

If you want to try on more, bring a friend with you. After the hour your attendant gives you is gone, if you still have dresses to try, grab ''em off the rack and your friend can help you into and out of them.

My favorites are 3, 5 and 6. I think those are the most elegant, hands down. We need to see them on you, though! Definitely take some pics when you go. My first dress appt is tomorrow, but I can''t take pics
7.gif
...I''m gonna have to sneak ''em!

Xchick, I had problems with David's Bridal too.. my sale lady was awful..the first day while she was getting dresses for me, she just sort of disappeared...turned out her lunch had arrived and she felt it was more important to attend to her food then me.
29.gif
This other lady ended up helping me, who was actually the one who brought me the headband and veil. I didn't order than, I wanted to show my mom and aunts, so I made an appointment for that, it happened to be a sale weekend. So I walk in, they were crazy busy, and I walked up to this lady and told her I had an appointment, she said 'okay, you're Ms Loveday?' I said 'no my name is...' I could tell she wasn't listening to me, so I told her who I had an appointment with and she just kind of looked at me and said 'oh she called off today'
29.gif
OF COURSE SHE DID!!!!
29.gif
So she told me that she would have someone help me. So this other lady walks up and lady I was talking to writes down 'Loveday' on a piece of paper hands it to the othe lady, points at me, and the 2nd lady walks away. I walked over to that lady and said 'excuse me, I had an appointment, I just need to try on one dress and I know which one it is can I just do that please' the lady says 'Okay Ms Loveday' I was so irritated I said 'Look my name is not Ms Loveday, it's (last name, which sounds nothing like Loveday, nor is it even close to the same spelling, the only similarities between my name and Loveday is a L and an A
20.gif
) and the lady looks confused and says 'Well that's what she told me' so I said 'I don't care what she told you I know my last name, she didn't even ask my last name, just assumed it was Loveday..why I couldn't tell you, my last name is (last name) and all I want to do is try a dress on' So she walks away.
29.gif
Finally my MOH shows up and stops this other lady who was so nice and helpful.

When you get your dress there, order it, pick it up and then be done with David's. Don't get your alterations done there, get your dress away from that store as fast as possible.

ETA: Saying all this, I will probably get my MOH dress there, some of the sales lady are really bad but then there are the good ones that make it all better.

I like 1,4,&7! Why three at a time?

I like 4 and 6!

Re: David''s....it DEFINITELY helps if you can make your appt on a weekday rather than a weekend. They are open till 9 pm on weekdays I believe. And it''s SO worth it to do that than on a hellish weekend when everyone and their mother is there.

Ditto on the alterations, accessories, and shoes - run from David''s at that point. The markup is incredible (that''s where they make all their money) and the quality is kinda crappy (at least for shoes, which I was forced to buy as a bridesmaid once).

Maybe they just meant three to start with? I don''t know. The lady just said I''d have an hour, Gina would be the lady helping me that day, and they''d tell me to pick out three dresses to try on.

Carribou, that''s horrid service! I''m so sorry you had to deal with that.

When I was in there, they were all very friendly and nice. One woman wasn''t particularly helpful, but she said she wasn''t a bridal person and wasn''t very familiar with the wedding dresses. I doubt I''ll buy any accessories there, especially a headband because they were all crazy expensive. I swear, one that I was looking at was like $125 and I saw something very similar in another store for $50. Their shoes are adorable, but I doubt I''ll get mine from there. I think my BMs might, though.

While we''re on the subject, what do you think of this color? My FI absolutely loves these tuxes for the groomsmen. So, we''re probably doing those for the groomsmen, white vest/tie for my groom, and the same color dresses for the BMs. Though, DB has a lot of cute mix-n-match tops and skirts, so we might do a couple of them with white tops or something.

That''s what the lady who ended being the most helpful said to me...she was the store manager or soemthing like that.

I like those colors!! I wanted those colors too but my FI didn''t like the brightness of the blue, so we are opted for a more subtle periwinkle color. Good choice, Xchick!!!!

I''ve noticed that ad in a lot of the magazines and it is a really pretty color. Love the turquoise!

I had a clueless sales lady at DB my first appt too. I told her what I was looking for and brought in all these pics of sheath dresses that I liked. I happened to say in a very off-the-cuff way that we were having a second wedding overseas and that if I could find a totally different style for that one, like a big poufy ball gown, on their $99 rack I''d probably get 2 dresses. Meanwhile she''s telling me all secretive-like to watch out for sales girls who will try to "pimp" dresses that are out of your budget. So what did she do? Bring 3 or 4 ball gowns to try on that were all $800-1000 (after I told her not to bring me anything more than $500)!! The next time I went in was an evening weeknight without an appt, I got the best sales girl EVER, who I recommend to everyone, who was totally knowledgeable, patient, informative, and brought me the dress I eventually bought (which I NEVER would have selected on my own).

I wonder why you can''t get a longer appt? My first was 2 hours on a Saturday morning at DB.

We were trying to decide between that color and periwinkle, but all my BMs liked the turquoise color better.

I went to David''s Bridal on a Friday. The nice lady (who was an AWESOME sales lady) told me that I could only try on three at a time, but after I would dismiss one as a definite "NO," she would go get me a different one to try on. Maybe that''s what they meant? Only three in the fitting area at a time. My other choices were hanging on racks in the showroom so it wasn''t that bad.

I got my dress there and I love it...I actually liked one other one better, but I didn''t like it enough to make up for the $400 price difference.

I like #1 and #7. Very nice.

In the store, the dress I referred to as my "fantasy dress" was a Monique Luo. The dress is GORGEOUS.

Oh, I bet that is what she meant. That makes a lot more sense. And your dress is gorgeous! I found a couple Monique''s I liked, but I just can''t let myself pay that much for a dress I''ll only wear once.
