Hello CS Ladies,
Can I please call upon your wisdom and design experience?
After my first attempt at a custom RHR, I am now working on a redesign. I am trying to reset the stone from my first engagement ring (it's an RB, M colour and only 0.39 ct - after the recut). I tried putting it into a five stone trellis, with 2 20-point fancy intense purplish-pinks and 2 10-point M's. It's really pretty, lots of fire and a nice quality setting (I was impressed with the quality after the various things I've read about LOGR), but I was underwhelmed once I put it on. It looks pretty tiny on my hand - no oomph. I didn't realize that the stones would look smaller once they were set - and my ring finger is size 9. I guess I've gotten used to a blingier look!
I have several coloured stone rings that I wear as RHRs, mostly in the 4-5 ct range. This would only be a sometimes RHR, not for everyday.
Luckily the vendor agreed to let me exchange the setting (even though it's well past the 30 days - thank you LOGR). They will custom make whatever I want, but given the communication challenges, I think it's better to keep it simple. So I thought it would be better to go with one of their current designs, just customized to the size of my stones.
So here's my current idea:
I like this flower setting. I'm thinking I will use my M in the centre, in yellow gold and then fancy intense pinks all round, in white gold. I'm working on sourcing the pinks right now. I'm trying to get 6 ten-pointers and then some smaller ones for the in-between stones.
Will the 10-pointers be in proportion to the 40 point centre? Will that work? It seems to me that there might be a gap between the centre stone and the others. Or is that just because it's still an empty setting? Might the gap disappear once the centre stone is set?
It's very hard to imagine it without a picture and I'm not very good with photoshop. The stats for the setting as shown are 0.62 ctw for the side diamonds, which means these are probably smaller than 10-pointers.
I could go for larger than 10-pointers, but I'd have to wait a bit to manage that. I think 20-pointers would be too large. And, realistically, out of my price range.
What do you think?
I'm grateful for any suggestions.
