Need to set a 2.16 Rose Spinel

Hi All,

I am sure that a list of trusted jewelers/goldsmiths on here somewhere...but can I ask which (US based) goldsmith would you send a stone out to for custom settings? I just got this spinel and the vendor said they will set it and though they seem to do good work, it isnt really their thing. I think I would like to set in a rose gold bezel pendant. Waiting for the stone to make certain

Secondly, where do you pricescopers tend to shop for prefab settings (rings primarily)? I have been slacking on setting stones lately. its so easy to get caught up in the next stone you want!

Is that a step cut (asscher)? Love these cuts. Depending on how fussy you are, you can go higher end with benches like Hunt or more well priced with Etsy.

It IS a step cut asscher, i have been looking for a spinel with this cut for some time which is why i want to set it and stare at it all day

thank you for the list. I actually did find this stone on Etsy from one of the precision cutters. they were very helpful and offered to set it though they usually only set finished jewelry to sell. I think this would look awesome with a rose gold bezel, but my concern is losing the step cut on the rim if i do.... so maybe a double pronged ring would be a better choice.

I have seen many bezeled coloured stones here in CS. The first thing I would do though is to check if it is a good candidate for a bezel setting. Some stones just close up (need lots of light so prong set is better) and some stones look better bezel set.

I have been going thru a big bezel phase the last couple years. cant seem to get enough. One of the ones i did i actually wish i had closed it more. the light washes it out and reflects the metal in the stone.

that peridot ring is gorgeous.

i attached one of my dream rings (attached from lang antiques) but dont think i want to spend very much on this setting. sigh.
