It appears that the old PS version isn’t going anywhere for a while and I hope that since it has been a month since the attempted upgrade, that the moderators will transfer all the new posts to date. With that in mind, I am risking posting new pictures of my chrysoberyl since I dislike having to repost pictures. This is a 3.7 ct Tanzanian chrysoberyl that shifts from greenish yellow to yellowish green. It measures 9.4 x 9.4 x 5.3 mm and I can’t wait to set this one. In fact, I have so many new stones to set now that I don’t know which one to set first.

I’ll start off with the outdoor pictures where it is the yellowest but still has some green in it. Sometimes, I see little minty blue green flecks here and there.

I don''t think the pic uploaded!

A hand shot to show perspective of the size.

It darkens up a little in the shade but is not overly dark at all.

I love it! Would you mind sharing which vendor?

It lightens up to a bright slightly greenish/golden yellow in the sun. As you see, the sparkles interfere with my camera sensor so I end up with a white-out picture.

These are the indoor pictures which show an obvious shift to a greener hue.

I love the sparkle but unfortunately, my camera doesn’t.

I guess I was too fast on the upload thing. Sorry.

That is a beauty. I think you have an eye for beautiful stones.

Another indoor picture showing the awesome saturation.

I managed to also capture the soft yellowish green glow here.

The last picture; this one indoors on the hand.

Treebean,
You are too fast for me. I was temporarily pulled away before I could post any pictures. I’ve been craving a chrysoberyl ever since I saw TL’s neon yellow beauty and have been on a hunt for my own ever since.

Yingh,
This chrysoberyl is from Tan who runs Odysseygems, Gemburionline and VVS1gems. I looked over a few others and found them either lacking in size or saturation. After several weeks, I spotted this one and jumped on it. I''m surprised that the cutting is actually very good.

looking good there chrono..

Chrono,
I'm so thrilled you finally got a chrysoberyl, and a lovely one at that. You do realize in your photos that it looks quite a bit like a fancy greeni-yellow diamond.

Great cutting and color on that gem. I'm so thrilled for yoU!!

Very pretty. Love the color on that one. What are you going to do with it?

Beautiful stone! What a great find!

It is absolutly stunning!! I love all the variations of color, each is unique, but saturated gorgeousness! Can''t wait to see what you plan on doing with it.

Great stone! I like the green part more - it also shows a very nice cut. I am amazed that you were able to spot such a nice stone. I was browsing his website but saw only smaller ones with windows - but granted, he has so many stones there it may be hard to go through three websites...

AmGuy, Alene and Uppy,
Thank you for looking and the kind words. I’m glad you enjoy the stone as much as I do and hope I didn’t overkill anyone with so many pictures.

TL,
Your chrysoberyl started it all so I lay the blame on you. If only it is truly a fancy greenish yellow diamond...imagine how much THAT will cost.

Kismet,
My initial plan was to set it in a pendant but after looking at it again, it seems such a shame to not be able to see it sparkle its facets off, so it’s going to be another ring stone. I’m toying with the idea of green gold, like Mochi’s WF green gold chrysoberyl ring although I haven’t the faintest idea of what design yet.

Crasru,
I also prefer the green part better than the yellow but heck, it’s just great in whatever lighting. I’ve checked it under halogen, fluorescent, incandescent and natural lighting and it never loses it brightness and saturation. No terrible modifiers either, just green and yellow. To be honest, I didn’t spot this particular stone. Credit has to be given to an anonymous friend of mine who brought it to my attention.

Chrono, you can never have too many pictures

A nice size and good cut for such a pretty stone, I DEFINITELY look forward to seeing how you set it since I am still having a difficult time envisioning the best way to set a trillion! Congrats

For me, as a trillion, or any shape, I would halo it!! LOL! However, I know how you like unique designs, and I think trillions call for a more modern clean line design.

SS,
You can go first as you've owned yours for far longer. I’d love to see you set your trilliant spessartite, then I’ll modify it for a ladies’ ring.

You are truly incorrigible! I’m thinking of something sleek, modern and contemporary. I still cannot decide between a bezel or prong setting but perhaps a bypass design in green gold?

Chrysos are fun.

You always find the best stones!

What a lovely, lovely stone! Chrysoberyl and Mahenge spinel seem to be everyone''s favorites these days. I do have a bright, smallish spinel, but I don''t think I''ll have true peace of mind until I own a chrysoberyl as well, lol!

Chrono I love it! Ahhh what colors! You got way better pictures too than I ever seem to be able to manage. Looking forward to what you decide to do w/it!
