DH and I are approaching our 5th anniversary and thinking it is time to upgrade from my original e-ring. I'm loving Montana Sapphires - it feels like the perfect fit for me. I love the icy-blue-grey-teal colors, and I even have relatives from that part of the country so I think we're set on that, but I'm still a little lost! Budget is a (flexible) $1500 for the whole thing.

1. The stones I am seeing at Mountain Momma Gems on Etsy seem perfect and there is a nice selection that interests me - but I can't find much feedback beyond the etsy site. Is anyone familiar with the site? Any reason to avoid it? http://www.etsy.com/shop/MountainMommaGems?section_id=10330795

Also we are in NYC - is there anyone local who might have a nice selection of Montana Sapphires?

2. Size / shape - I don't want anything too huge, so thinking not much bigger than around 6mm. My ring size is 6 and I have fairly small hands. I *think* I want a radiant or cushion that are close to but not quite square - but some of the round Montana Sapphires I have seen are beautiful too so I'm open to input on that. I think something like this would be a good fit as far as size & cut, though I would prefer something a little more blue than green I think: http://www.etsy.com/listing/82480464/teal-fancy-montana-sapphire-radiant-cut

3. Setting - We would probably use Greenwich Jewelers to set it since we are in NYC. Looking for a simple prong setting but nothing too high maintenance. No side stones, no halo, no bezel setting. I'm loving this one: http://www.greenwichjewelers.com/store/category/rings/engagement/products/artcarved-twisted-shank-solitaire-engagement-ring#
For reference my wedding band is like this one: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-wedding-ring-white-gold_6709
Would this be a good fit - radiant or cushion around 6mm, with the twisted shank, with my current wedding band?

Would love some advice! Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your anniversary -- and your great idea for a stone. I love Montanas too. I don't know anything about the Etsy site, but here are a few others with some Montana sapphires in your price range -- Gemfix has a variety of shapes & prices & they are lovely to work with. You might ask them also if they have something not posted. Check out other vendors in the 4th thread from the top in this forum -- there is a whole list, including some reliable eBay sellers. Good luck -- and please keep us updated on what you decide on!

I looked through most of the list already and haven't found much aside from round and ovals, but maybe we'll try contacting gemfix. Thanks!

Definitely ask for more pictures. Sapphires have a tendency to color shift. I'd definitely ask for pictures in sunlight, shade and indoors.

I like the 217 or 244 better. The one you mention is not very "vivid" in color and has some veils.

From what I've been told, Gemfix will NOT provide additional pictures. However, you can ask as many questions as you feel comfortable.
