Gah...so I was an idiot and dropped my cell in water today!

Now it doesn''t work well it vibrates constantly when the battery is connected and the screen is just white and blank.
14.gif
It''s older anyway getting close to 2 years old. What does everyone recommend? I use Verizon I did see the Pink Razr
31.gif

I love my RazrV3c, I have the gun metal color since I am not a pink kind of girl. But my mother has the pink one and she mentioned that the lights under the key pad are pink on hers too. She loves heliotrope so she was happy to get that one.

My husband really likes his razr... of course he doesn''t have the pink one, though! How do you feel about the slivr? It''s pretty cool if you don''t mind not having a flip phone. The pink razr kind of reminds me of Hello Kitty, it''s cute!

Thanks Mat and Monarch for the suggestions

I can''t believe the pink razr is more than the silver one by $30!
14.gif
I''m going to have to see it in person to decide if the extra 30 bucks is worth it.

Isn''t the silvr pretty pricey right now?

I''m feeling SO lost without my cell right now!
39.gif
Luckily I have my mom''s calling card so I can at least use the dorm landline.
20.gif

Hee hee, you could always get pink Swarovski crystals and bling out the silver razr, lol!
36.gif
Ever since Mara did her phone last fall, I''ve been a big fan. I ordered crystals from a website and they are waiting for a free weekend to be attached to my phone!

Know anyone with an old cellphone they''re not using? We have about 6 sitting around (until I get around to donating them) I''d love to give you! I really don''t use my cellphones very much, and I always end up keeping my old phone and buying the newest version of whatever''s out... I sure with they had a trade-up program like some places do for diamonds!

I love the light pink verizon razr!!! It is so much nicer than the fuschia pink one that cingular sells.
I would switch to verizon just for that phone!

We just got new cell phones last month actually. My husband got the black Razr and I got the Sony ericcson w600i, a tad heavier, but I liked it because it has so many things! It''s a camera, an mp3 player, a FM radio and of course, a cell phone.
Pluse, it opens up in the cutest way, rather than flipping, it sort of turns on the top, I can''t explain.

But again, if I had Verizon, I would definitely get the pink one!

I may actually swarovski crystal my phone. HMmmm, ideas, ideas!

Ha ha! I ordered my crystals from artbeads.com. I thought they were way cheaper than the e-bay ones, or sending in your phone to nycpeach.com ($300? wowser!). I think I paid $18 for 400 9mm crystals and a tube of the E6000 glue. I still have to go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels for the little orange sticks and some wax to pick up the crystals on the ends of the sticks with, though. I only got 400 because I don''t plan on covering my entire phone. I''ll attach a pic, but to describe it, it has rubber on the sides and back plate, so I''m just covering the silver parts with the clear crystals. I think that''s bling enough for me! If I totally hate it when it''s done, I can either add more all over or take them off--I think acetone will take off the glue. Or I could be out a phone...no worries, mine is down to 49.99 now, lol! I think I got it last year, so that would explain the huge drop in price (paid $150!)

My husband is totally against me blinging out my phone, which I think is hilarious. He knows I never use it anyway, so what does it matter?! Seriously, I have Cingular service and I have almost 6,000 rollover minutes!

Whoops, forgot to attach the pic:

phone bling..woo hoo!! you know i am a fan of it!!

i need to get a new phone...my plan expired and i could get a $150 credit for sprint if i stay with them, but they don''t have the pink razr...my gf has verizon and i love the pink one they have instead of the bright hot pink one that cingular has!

apparently also functionality is a bit different between cingular and verizon...

so i dont know what i will do...switch to verizon for the pink razr (and pay what? $350?) OR take my credit from sprint who i have had for over 6 years and get one of their uglay phones. one big pet peeve with sprint is their phones are soooo not the trendy fun ones...

only downer about getting something like the razr is i won''t want to bling it out since it''d be colored. hmmmm. oh and next time if i did the bling i would pay to have it done, not NYC peach but there is another one i cant remember the name of but she has done my friend''s phones twice, and she only costs $100 and it is a spectacular job.

You girls are giving me bad ideas about phone bling!

I''m thinking it''ll either be the pink razr (I do like the light one better actually) or the Motorola V325. Motorola is a ton cheaper actually (80 bucks with a two year contract) and comes with VNavigator which will give me GPS voice directions whenever I get lost

butterfly: an FM radio?
23.gif
That''s really cool! Everytime I turn around they are coming out with something new LOL

Mara: the regular Razr is $99.99 and the pink one is $129.99 (2 year contract). I''m not under a contract right now so I''m sure Verizon would just love to put me under one again.

Yes, verizon is excellent! I think they are rated the number one wireless provider on Consumer Reports.

I have to say though that I haven''t had any problems so far with at&t/cingular. I used to get dropped calls all the time with Sprint, which is why I made the switch.

Also, I get this sweet deal through my hospital- 30% off my bill every month, plus 45% off any new phone or accessory and no activation fees.
2.gif

If I switched over to Verizon, I wouldn''t get those discounts, so cingular, I am here to stay!

Yes, it does, although I just fell in love with the design of the phone, it is really cute. And I just love how it isn''t the typical flip design. Also, it comes with these changeable faceplates in orange and dark blue and I didn''t like them, so I ordered purple ones and white ones from ebay.

Now, whenever I use it, people ask me where I got a purple w600i.

Verizon is good however, lately I''ve been getting some calls that don''t connect. Ie when someone calls me I can''t hear them but they can hear me. Makes me wonder though if it was just my phone since it was getting pretty old (as far as cells) Guess I''ll see with the new phone.

Oh yes, a little update on my phone...everything works except it won''t connect to the network
20.gif
Great....

Btw I don''t think Verizon offers your w600i

I am with Verizon and just got the Samsung A950 (the red one).

Very happy with it so far. Bluetooth enabled, does the v-cast music (for those who care - not a feature I card about).

I''m finding reception on this phone much better than my previous motorola. I drove through an area Tuesday night that is typically a dead zone - stayed connected all the way through with this phone.

Very pleased.

hey mara, i have sprint and totally agree with the ugly un-fun phones thing. we''ve had them for 8 years and are considering switching after we finish our latest contract. i just got this phone-- samsun A900, and its defintely the funnest sprint phone i''ve had. i wish it came in fun colors, but the only one i saw was black and i forgot to ask if it came in any other colors. it''s super slim, so slips in my jeans pocets easily AND super bonus -- fits nicely into my new LV change purse
9.gif

the only saving grace sprint has is if you threaten to leave, they''ll send you to the "retention department" and match any deal out there and sometimes better it

ginger that is the one i am looking at through sprint, it is what they call their their version of the razr (but of course they said theirs is better in terms of functionality)...i think its 349 typically so it''d be like 199 after my credit. not a big deal at all, i tend to keep my phones for ~ 2 years or so anyway!!

i just wish it came in colors, it does just come in black. see that is what i mean....come on sprint, get with the program people!!

i''d love a silvery soft blue. yum!

so do you like the functionality on the phone? i do like samsung''s having had them through sprint in the past, but i''m a little intimidated by all this new functionality these new phones have and how to use it all. what program/pacakge did you sign up for?

Yeah I don''t really care whether I have VCast or not either.

i generally really like samsung phones. the ones i''ve had in the past always seemed to last forever, and i am ROUGH on my phones (butter fingers
9.gif
). as far as funtionality, it''s very user friendly. i didn''t read the manual and was able to figure out how to use veything. theres a fun voice feature that allows you to program your voice into the phone so you can dial, send text, etc using your voice instead of keypad. the shceduler planner kinda sucky, but i usually don''t use it anyway. getting on the web is super easy and the screen and resolution is AWESOME, but not havg a scroll thingy kinda sucks. the camera is great, it is a bit delayed, so you do have to hold your hand steady for a little while after you hear the click, but the resolution is fab. the video feature is nice too. you can store up to 155mb of info on your phone i think. theres also a cool program where you can transfer music to your phone from your computer. haven''t done it yet but planning to try it out soon. the ringtones suck and are barely audible, but if you get the vision package (i did the first month free then canceled) you can download some fun ringers from sprint and the sound quality there is FAB. My two faves are Gwen S. singing the B-A-N-A-N-A-S part of "Hollaback girl" and Daddy Yankee "Rompe". HUGE selection. The biggest draw backs are battery life is so-so to bleah and this weird background neutralization thing where it cuts out bg noise so when the other person isn''t speaking, there''s complete silence, so you think "did they hang up" then when they talk, not only their voice comes thru, but all the bg noise with it, which is useless

.

we did a family plan and got them to match t-mobiles plan for 1000 anytime, unlimited nights and weekends, and threw in for free nights starting at 7pm.

all in all, prob a 8-9 out of 10. pretty happy with it

I dont care for the Vcast, I have an iPod for that...but I LOVE Bluetooth.

I could never get my A950 to hook up properly to my RX but the Razr links up like a dream...on long drives (over 4 or 5 hours) Bluetooth is such a blessing!

What to do with old phones that still work? Many times you can donate them to charity. In my area the YWCA takes them and they get basic service and give them to battered women. You might want to check into it if you have phones you no longer need.

I''ve gotten only so-so feedback for the Rzr specifically for Verizon Wireless....remember, VZW is on a different system than Cingular (which is GSM) and tha Rzr has gotten mixed reviews as a result....I''ve used Samsung on the VZW for almost 2 years and love it!!! The calls are crystal clear and the reception is wonderful....

For those of you advocating the RZR, how many are from VZW??? (Just as a comparison sake!)

ID is right, your local battered woman''s shelter typically will take any old phone because they configure them to just call 911 and they give them out to the women. I have a few to donate actually...this just reminded me!

Ooo great. LOL My cell now *the one I dropped in water* is a Samsung the first one that has the cam and color flip screen. I''m going to be calling Verizon this afternoon to attempt to order a phone..

I just talked to one of my girlfriends here that has the black Razr and she wasn''t too happy with it either said more calls dropped than her previous phone.

Princess...I''m guessing it''s the a670? I have the same one...they''ve come out with other cam/color flips for Samsung since ours that are still getting great reviews....good luck!

Yeah it is and it doesn''t work so good after dropping it in water...

too bad I really liked this phone!

Oh yes...little update on my phone turns out I changed my plan last year and I can''t upgrade until June. The upgrade deal isn''t that great though its the same thing you see on the website for new customers. I would get $100 off plus a two year commitment. Yeah don''t think so. Well guess I can go to the actual store to see what I can do.

Razr glitch causes sales halt
Some units may cut off phone calls

By Mike Hughlett
Tribune staff reporter
Published March 10, 2006

Two big U.S. wireless phone companies this week temporarily stopped selling the Razr--one of Motorola Inc.''s hottest selling phones--because of a defect that causes calls to disconnect.

A Motorola spokesman said the problem affects a relatively small number of phones and is being fixed quickly. But Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile halted Razr sales to ensure that customers didn''t get stuck with a bum phone.

Mat, SOOOO odd that you say this! Last night, my Bluetooth oddly just dropped connection from my 950, and it wouldn''t re-pair! Kept saying it couldn''t find the bluetooth device, even though it was already in the registered list! I tried EVERYTHING...seriously thought it was the headset. Then I came to work; a friend has an LG phone, and it paired to that no problem.

So, took the battery off the 950 for 30 seconds, put it back, and then boom! now the phone could find the bluetooth.

I''m going to see what the next week brings, but i was really pissed last night when I couldn''t get them to pair.

Yeah, I don''t care for v-cast either - I just wanted bluetooth.
