Some time ago i used the stones and the gold from an old diamond ring, which was a gift from my mother, in order to make a half eternity band to wear with my ER. The tcw of those diamonds is .94ct and they are G color, VS1 clarity and God knows what cut grade
So the ring was made and my jeweller did an amazing work, given the material that he had in his hands. I started wearing the new band and i was very happy with it....at the beginning It didn't take long to realize that the color difference between the E diamond of my ER and the G stones of the band bothered me...I guess, this also had to do with the fact that the triple ex H&A diamond of the ER sparkled like crazy next to the other diamonds which were - i suspect - many grades lower in cut and didn't perform well
Aaaand...even though i'm not supposed to spend money on jewellry right now (DH and i had a very expensive wedding last May and now we're expecting a baby ) i took the decision to have a new, custom made, half eternity band made according to my wishes and stop obsessing about it (i convinced DH by telling him that if the mommy is happy, then the baby inside her is calm and happy too, he, he ).
So i visited my jeweller and asked him to make the ring with stones which are E color, VVS1 clarity and excellent cut. So far so good but then i realized that there was no way that i could get diamonds in the size of the previous ones...way too expensive for us right now! Finally, he used seven stones with a tcw of .49 cts.
When the ring was ready and i went to pick it up, i was speechless...I couldn't believe the sparkle, the icy white color and the gorgeous presence that it had on my hand...So smaller diamonds and yet such a big difference from the previous ring. I'm very happy and satisfied with it. And since my jeweller has a great upgrading policy, we can always upgrade to bigger stones in the future
So, here is my little beauty...
(Hmmm...i wonder what i should do with the diamonds of the other ring now that i got the new one )
