So I started my e-ring search a few months ago, but wasn''t so serious about it. I knew I wanted one and I had to test the waters and find out what was out there. I''ve started to get more serious in the search, and recently found price scope (thank God!) I''ve been to a few semi-local places, but recently have just been reading as much as I can on here. I think I''ve got the diamond thing down, but the setting is proving to be really tough for me. I have only found one setting I really like that I know she''ll like, but the jeweler I found it at only seems to have a few diamonds at a time, and I wasn''t too impressed by their prices and the cut of the stone (at least from what I could tell with the GIA report). The setting I like is from Simon G, it is style LP2076, and I''m going to try to attach an image of it. If it doesn''t work, then you can do a style search on http://www.simongjewelry.com/ and see what it looks like. The picture doesn''t do it justice, it has some nice detail work on the side that you can''t see, and that is the only picture I can find of it.

Now anyways, on to my problem. I have yet to find a setting that I like as much as that one, and I''m kinda hoping I could find one I like more, and I''m not sure I''m budgeting enough for the setting. I have a hard time telling if I''d like a setting when looking at it online, so I plan on taking a trip to GOG when I''ve got some time (probably 2-3 weeks from now) but I''m not thrilled with the settings I''ve seen on their website. I''m also having some concerns on my budget. I''d like to keep it to about 8000, unless a wedding band is included, then I''m comfortable with more. The guy who had the Simon G setting I liked wanted 2400 for it, which he implied was a little more than a 20% discount, but I''m assuming that would be if I bought the whole package from him. I want a round, 1 carat minimum, ideal cut, probably G-H color, and at least an eyeclean SI1, preferably VS. For the setting, I want platinum (she would pick white gold, but thats for the sole reason of it being cheaper) and it shouldn''t be as plain as a Tiffany solitaire, but nothing too overdone either, no halos, no baugettes, and she finds some 3 stone settings to not look too much like an engagement ring (when the side stones are too close to the size of the center stone). I hope you guys can understand what I mean, and either help me get some ideas, reassure me that my budget isn''t too restrictive, or reassure me that I can find something at GOG that will make both of us happy and not break the bank.

Oh, I also have a diamond related question. Her mother has a pear shaped diamond that is at least 1.7 carats (not sure on the exact size, but its big) is a 1 carat round going to look too small next to that, or will it be big enough?

welcome to Pricescope! I think the price for the simon g ring is a good one. simon g makes a high quality product and the setting is lovely. A couple of things to at least think about. that particular design will not allow for a wedding band to sit flush next to the e-ring. both the e-ring and band are designed with a knife edge. the band is also curved which means she won''t be able to wear the band by itself. we''ll she could but it will look a little funny

. Goodoldgold carries a ton of designers and my guess is you could easily find a setting from them too so I would hold off buying anything until your visit GOG. If your future mother in laws ring is a 1.7 pear then yes, a 1 carat round is going to look smaller b/c it is smaller. But, a 1 carat round is a wonderful size and definitely not small! you might also consider checking out Pearlmans. They are pricescope vendors and have the largest settling selection with a ton of different designers and styles so you might see something there that catches your eye. They don''t carry Simon G but I would suggest looking at Beverley K and Ritani (goodoldgold carries Ritani too) on their site.

Beautiful ring! I was driving this weekend and my girlfriend saw it on a billboard and loved it. I contacted the store today and fortunately they told me what model it was so I could google it and try to find it cheaper. The stores quote was $2,700 in platinum.

I don''t think she will wear the band without the e-ring, so that probably won''t be a problem, but it is a good point. Good to hear GOG has plenty of designers, I definitely need a larger selection to look through. Thanks for the suggestion to check out Pearlmans, it looks like Ritani has a much better selection than was showing up on the GOG website, and at decent prices. I guess I probably should make an appointment at GOG.

yes, definitely make an appt. with GOG. you will be very well taken care of!
