So, I bought another mahenge. All of mine are small...my first pair is 4.45 mm Portuguese cut rounds; my second one was an upgrade in color/saturation and is a Portuguese round at .85 cts. I bought this one bc I got a message from my favorite gem dealer/jeweler Yvonne Raley that she had a new parcel, and that it was old material, which was very exciting for me to hear. This one was much much pricier than what I've paid for my others. It was cut from a huge piece of rough that was found in 2007, when the colors coming out were still darker stuff.
This one isn't much bigger than my round at .88 cts, it's 6 x 5 mm. I think the color is quite beautiful though, and I've taken loads of pics just for fun, to show how it compares to my less saturated mahenges. I actually think this one is the hardest to photograph, it's the first mahenge I've seen that I think extinction is actually a bit of a problem with. But I'm not nearly as familiar with cushion cuts as I am with rounds, so I'm not as good at evaluating them.
Firstly, pics of it alone...(all pics taken indirect sunlight)
***edited, I put the wrong mm on the new one in here...it's actually 6 x 5 mm, I had said 7 x 5, I was mixing it up with my tsavorite (it's pictured later).
