Greetings from California!

I have been reading from this great site for a few months now and learned a great deal, but just signed on as a member. I'm planning my proposal soon but just got my engagement ring this morning from Blue Nile and wanted to share. I apologize for the poor pictures and I tried to capture the fire as best I could but don't think I succeeded... Anyway, here it is:

Here are some specs:

Center Diamond:
Signature Ideal, I-color, VVS1, Round, 0.83-carat, HCA = 1.4.

Sidestones:
Signature Ideal, I-color, IF, Round, 0.32-carat, HCA = 1.0.
Signature Ideal, I-color, IF, Round, 0.32-carat, HCA = 1.3.

Setting:
Three stone trellis in 950 platinum.

After seeing some beautiful diamonds (and large), I wanted to be able to get my girlfriend something around 1-ct or larger, but alas my budget wouldn't allow it, so I decided to go a little smaller, but try to focus on the cut as much as I could for as much light reflection as possible, and also the clarity. I've read many posts here discussing how the right cut can make the diamonds look bigger, and I am a believer now. Even if just sitting there idle these three are giving off brilliant fires (again, sorry for poor pics).

Thanks to this site and the great people here, I've got what I wanted in a ring, but now comes the harder part... :)

 It is superb! The second photo is really great! I am sure she'll love it! Great job

Oh that's beautiful! And such high clarity!

Shell love it.

You did an Awesome job! Congratulations! :appl:

Thanks so much!

I found some scratches and rub marks on the ring box so I did an online chat with Blue Nile, and actually got the same person I spoke to yesterday while confirming shipping details. A few pleasantries later, a new box is on its way to me absolutely free! I was hesitant about purchasing a ring online, especially when all I have to refer to were GIA and GCAL reports (compared to actual pictures of the diamond on Brian Gavin, White Flash, etc.), but I am ecstatic about the ring, and now very impressed with Blue Nile's customer service as well. I had purchased a fresh water cultured pearl necklace for my mom last month and the experience was equally stellar. I foresee getting the wedding band from them as well, that is, assuming my girlfriend says yes. :D

Congratulations on a beautiful ring, it really is gorgeous and I'm sure your SO will LOVE IT!! I'm glad you had such a great experience with BN, do they have a matching w-band or something that pairs well with the e-ring?

It's a gorgeus ring, I'm sure she will love it!

Very classic and beautiful!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

It's beautiful!! I'm partial to classic threestones ::) Good luck with the proposal pklin!

Beautiful!! you chose very well :appl: Very impressive - lots of sparkle is probably an understatement!! Lovely trellis 3 stone - I'm kind of partial to them myself ;))

Good luck with your proposal!

Thanks everyone! I have started my search for a complimentary wedding band, but while I wouldn't mind getting it from BN also, if anyone has a suggestion on a great wedding band that will go with this e-ring I would love to hear it!

While the ring box from BN is not ugly by any means, I would like to get a different one... Can anyone also recommend a good place to shop for ring boxes? I don't want to get crazy with it in terms of designs, just a nice classy one to go with the ring. :) Thanks much!

By the way, are we able to upload short videos to posts? Pictures just don't show the flashes and brilliance at all...

Welcome, and thanks so much for posting the ring! I am a longtime Blue Nile customer and have always had great experiences with them, but people rarely post a BN ring here so this is a treat for me. It's GORGEOUS!

well i think it would be beautiful with a channel set band, but i think you should propose and let her pick it out. shell have fun going into a place and trying an all sorts (then buying from a PS vender for cheaper and better ;) )

That ring is gorgeous! The proportions of the three stones are perfect and I love the trellis setting  Very classic and lovely!
I'm sure it does have incredible sparkle After you propose please post handshots. I second going band shopping together she will really enjoy it :))

Well since BN's return policy is 30 days, I'd better propose soon... lol... I am planning my proposal now but being rather unimaginative, I'm really racking my brain here... One thing is for sure, it'll be in an intimate setting because she hates being embarrassed. :)

I'll for sure take her band shopping, I just hope she'll let me buy it from PS vendors so as not to incur extra markup. If all is well, I will post hand pics as soon as I can.

That is a beautiful ring - and VVS/IF stones - whoa! I'm sure your fiancee to be will be thrilled. Come back and let us know how it went. Good luck!

well done!
definitely a classic.
good luck with the proposal! you definitely want to do it within the 30-day return time period........

Beautiful 3 stone ring... :appl: :appl:

Classic beauty!

I love 3 stone rings; you did a fantastic job!! Good luck with the proposal!!

Fabulous! Can't wait to see hand shots when you've done the deed!

Beautiful ring - she's going to be blown away by it! Good luck with your proposal!

Nice...you did a great job (and without our help)! Who wouldn't love it?!?

Thanks everyone! You've all helped me get this ring, whether you know it or not. I remember reading at least one posts from each of you so trust me, you've helped! :)

Going with "I" color definitely took some convincing on my own part. Most of the diamonds I've seen here emphasized color (D - F) over clarity. From what I've seen, most reputable online vendors mentioned on this site sell some stunning, eye-clean diamonds so getting a SI - VS diamond isn't really an issue, so people often use their budget towards color. I started by finding the center diamond and happened to find the two "I" colored IF side stones so I decided that is the combo I wanted... I am pretty sensitive to color variance so I do see the difference, but the shine from these three stone is really stunning so I feel pretty good about my purchase.

Can anyone who has a trellis 3 stone suggest a good wedding band? I will go shopping with her but I do want to get some ideas first, because the trellis is rather hard to find a band that will sit flush against it... If anyone has a good suggestion I'd love to hear it. BN suggested a couple of bands that have a subtle curve at the top which will allow it to sit closer to the curve of the trellis prongs so that is being considered; just wondering what else is out there... Thanks!

I have a princess 3 stone trellis (see my avatar) and I rotate a few wedding bands w it. My original YG wb from 1985, a micro pave eternity I just got from DBL, a 7 stone FLY radiant trellis band DBL custom made for me (if you look on www.diamondsbylauren.com and check out wedding bands, they called it the Enerchi!) and I also have a stacker of yellow sapphire baguettes and MRBs from DiamondZone. None of them are tapered to fit the trellis ering but all work well, IMO!

I can't remember which threads show which rings...I guess you could search by my screen name...?

Thank you Enerchi! I found the "Enerchi" and that's probably exactly what I was thinking! I knew I saw somewhere on here a wedding ring that was inspired by the trellis and I believe I found it! I will have to have a chat with diamondsbylauren... Thanks again!
