New mounting for red spinel

My red spinel was purchased almost 20 years ago. It is 2.35 carats, long oval shaped and has a nice red color. The 80''s style mounting looks a bit dated, so I had a custom setting made for it recently. I got the ring back few days ago. It''s looks more up to date now, but I am not sure if the stone looks any better. I have trouble capturing the true color. The stone is very bright under halogen, incandescent or sunlight, but I can''t get capture a good picture under bright light. These are taken under natural daylight.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Since I paid very little for the red spinel, I tried to find a ready made mounting for it at first. But due to the long oval shape, I didn''t find one that worked. Frank Lau Jewelry in Seattle custom made the new setting for me at a very reasonable price.

Widget, the old mounting is not wasted. I asked the jeweler to put an inexpensive light green tourmaline in the old mounting. I had in mind a minty green color to match the earrings that are being made. I got this darker yellowish green, but quite nice looking tourmaline instead. Since this stone is fatter than the spinel, it seems to go better with the mounting. Sorry for the fuzzy photo.
