My center is a 2.14 and the side options are either .54s or .43s. I like the proportions of the .54s with my center on their own but I’m hesitant because my finger is a 4.5-4.75 (and that is my knuckle- my finger where the ring sits is actually smaller) and I’m worried they might overwhelm my finger? The .43s do really make the center diamond center stage. I tried to balance the .43s across my finger but it didn’t work. The .54s are in studs so it was an easier feat! Interested to see what you all think! I’m going to give it a week to decide so I can be sure. Thank you in advance as always for your thoughtful responses.

I think it depends on what look you're after. I like the .43s because they seem to put the right emphasis on your center stone (make it Pop like
@maryjane04 said). The .54s give you a bigger overall look...actually its huge! That combination almost looks too big for your petite fingers (my
2 cents...take it for what its worth). The .54s also make your center stone not look as big in my eyes (its all relative).

Either would be a finger full of bling. It just really depends on the look you're going for! I'm looking forward to seeing this ring!

Do you happen to know what setting you want?
I think the setting will sway me vote.

Yes a variation of the trilogie by HPD. Thx!

I love the .43’s. My eye was drawn to them immediately!

I’d ask HPD if the mounting/stones will need to set up higher off your finger with the 54’s, than it would be for the 43’s.
if so, that would sway me towards the smaller ones.

The angle of the set sidestones won’t be as wide as your layout- so gorgeous either way!

I love the .43s. But I'm biased because I just generally love 3 stones with smaller side stones. Not to say 3 stones with bigger side stones are ugly. Just wouldn't be my pick. If you love the .54s you should get your preference!!

I’m leaning towards the .43s but I’m going to take a little time to decide since they just arrived today. I love how the .54s look proportionally next to the center when they are not on my finger but they seem like a very big combo when on my finger. I originally had planned to use the .54 studs I already had but I kept feeling like together they were a bit much for my finger and for my every day mom life, which prompted me to try .40s and now .43s - which seem like a really nice balance to me. I’ll definitely sleep on it and see what my first impression is again tomorrow when I look at them again. It’s always best for me to sleep on big decisions and it’s pretty fun looking at all this sparkle! And my hubby just defers to me and says “pick what you love” so it always comes back to what makes my heart sing and just feels right....

Great point! I think they would just so they wouldn’t be touching my finger but I’ll need to ask more specifically! Thx

I like the .43's because it showcases the main diamond more.

Bigger sidestones make the entire ring look more like a trilogy/3-stone ring while smaller side remains as side stones to compliment the main, if you know what I mean ;)2
I prefer the 0.43, no reason not to let the big sister shine more :)

Please post a photo of the .43s with the center stone across you finger.

As much as I like the .54s (mine are .53s) I think that the .54s take up too much real estate on your finger. I think my size 4.5 is larger than yours?

I feel that balance is important too.

Whatever you decide, it will be gorgeous.

I’d say the bigger ones, but since your hands are so delicate, I’d suggest to rather choose the smaller ones.

In a more general way of replying, you need to take into account several elements.
1. Your own finger width needs to accommodate all three diamonds across the width above where your fingers touch one another. Comfort is important in frequently worn items.
2. The diameter or length of the center stone.
3. The width of the shank at the shoulders where the smaller diamonds will join the shank. Thicker shanks demand larger side stones while thin shanks look nicer with more delicate side stones.

My design goal on three stone rings was nearly always to form a somewhat smooth and linear transition from the center stone past the width of the two side stones continuing to the visible shank width where the side stones joined the shank shoulders. This still gives a lot of choices in what sizes to use. What works best are side stones that don't look "added-on" like they were an afterthought. A smooth transition and flow make them work, but there is plenty of personal latitude in what looks right to each individual. We always really liked to use triangle brilliants, "trilliants" for side diamonds. They emphasized the center diamond and were more subtle, but allowed a very pleasing look.

Normally I'm a go big or go home kinda gal. But in this extremely rare instance I think the .43s look much more aesthetically pleasing. You have such petite fingers and the .54s seem to be overwhelming.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I couldn’t seem t get the .43s to balance on my hand because they were loose and kept falling so this is the closest I could get! I’m going to go with this combo! So exciting! On to ring design next!

I think it’s really what you prefer visually. I wear 4.25 size and this 2 ct center has 1 carat (each) sapphires. My finger below my knuckle is very small too. I don’t have a comfort issue. Good luck with your decision.
