New rhodolite studs

I just got these back from my jeweler today and I'm very happy with them.

Perfect rhodolites for your ears. They are just the right sized studs and the martini setting shows nothing but 2 lovely garnets floating on your ears.

In response to the other thread about settings and cost I thought I'd mention that these simple setting were only $40.00 on Rio Grande. And they are 14k. It's a good place to buy stock settings for reasonable prices. They run out of things a lot though and have limited sizes. But it's a good place to look. When my jeweler saw them he said " oh yeah I sometimes work with Rio Grande" so they have a good reputation among jewelers. I happen to buy my own silver from them for class etc.

I just bought earrings that are part rhodolite and part amethyst and I love them. I never even heard of rhodolite before I bought them. I am just learning about colored gemstones and it is opening up a whole new blingy world lol.

Very pretty! They look to be 4mm, is that how big they are? 4mm martinis are my favorite size because they also look good in jackets for a more blingy look!

I must have big ears
They are about 5.3mm, I think. I don't own a calibrator but purchased the settings guessing they were roughly that size. I love the idea of jackets too!

Hey Bluebirrrd, No you don't need a permit for metals and settings etc. I think for diamonds you might need some type of permit.

Those are really pretty! I'm glad you posted these. I have a pair of rhodolite studs that I wear all the time and want to have them reset into basket settings, however, wasn't sure about cost. I don't know the size of the stones...but I think they're about the size of yours (mine look about the size of a 1/2 ct diamond) and I have big ear lobes so the diameter is perfect.
