Fresh from AJS Gems:
A 1.98 carat (Heat Only) Yellow Sapphire
Two .88 ctw (Heat Only) Burmese Rubies
These mark my first foray into sapphire buying. I've had BAD experiences with my previous (inherited) rubies, in that all of them turned out to be synthetics after I was told they were natural. These are not synthetics, however, and they are a magnificent glowing medium red (I can't take a picture to save my life). These just might help me rekindle my love for rubies! Under my loupe, I can see some light silk and they really do have a lovely glow.
My mother has blue sapphires so I decided I'd be "different" and go after a yellow sapphire. This one turned out to be much yellower than I had even expected/hoped. The photos on the AJS site were very true to life. It's a bright sun-shiny yellow.
I am going to (at some point) have these set into a ring. Probably 18kt Yellow Gold to bring out all the warmth in these stones.
