just wanted to show a new sapphire that I have purchased. It is 5.3 ct. but looks smaller because it is cut deeper. Overall, a very nice color and I have obtained GIA and AGL certificates for it. Both confirmed absence of heating. It has some silk in it and comes from Ceylon.

I did not photoshop pictures. This one was taken at daytime, overcast sky, on a balcony. Seattle rain.

evening, shade.

I shall post stats later, the stone is in the house. Any advices on the setting will be much appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Oh, drooooool!!! The color! My impulse would be to set it fairly simply so it can really take center stage. Good find, Arkteia!

I opened this thread thinking "who is Arkteia" and was really confused but the ruble has now dropped!!!!! ;))

I love your sapphire and a 5ct one -

There's a small bit of extinction going on so my suggestion for setting is to let in as much light as possible. Something quite high and prong based (definitely not bezel) but in all honesty, you are the master of unique settings so I will defer to your experience.

Many congratulations on a gorgeous purchase.

Hey, welcome back (at least it feels like you've been absent for a bit)! :) What a great colour! Lovely looking stone.

Fab colour - and a whopper to boot!

Wow. It is stunning - and 5ct to boot!?! Yummy-licioius!

My vote for setting would be a simple solitaire pendant since it's so large. Might be too much for the finger?

Please come back and post stats! Gorgeous.

Oh Ark, that color pops. Thats a great stone..unheated, mkiller blue, and it has some size to it. WOW

Now THAT's a sapphire!! Your photos are fuzzy, but the color, is TDF!!! :cheeky:

I love the shape of it too.

An art deco style setting would be perfect, in platinum.

HI:

I am glad to see you posting again.

How will you set it? Your last ring took my breath away.....

cheers--Sharon

Color, color, color. It has it. Nice.

Oooooooooo !!!!

Hey I was just wondering about you the other day !!!
What a gorgeous gorgeous stone !!!!
Bound to light things up in Seattle !!! :sun:

JewelFreak - thank you very much! I am thinking of a classic setting this time.

LD - Thank you! You are right, there is extinction but I do not mind it at all with such color. And I shall talk to a jeweler about setting it higher, and in a more classic style.

NKTOB - thank you!

Pandora - thank you!

Nice to hear that you both like it!

K9 - thank you! I would prefer a ring because I want to look at it. I love the ring in your avatar!

Barrett - thank you! Very nice to get a compliment from you!

George Ellis - than you! I like your new avatar!

Canuk-gal, thank you! I shall not be posting too much, just looking through new posts to look at my fellow PS'ers new beauties.

Ooo~Shiney, thank you! It will lighten up in Seattle, and the stone looks great in any weather and any light!

Wow, what a gorgeous color! Did you purchase the stone locally. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

TL - you are right about everything, as usual!

My photography is bad, I think the initial resolution was too high. My photography skills did not get better. But... when I clicked on your link, I almost shrieked, because it was the exact setting I had in mind! It is beautiful! I shall contact them. Thank you, TL!

That is a gorgeous, gorgeous sapphire!

Gorgeous sapphire. I love the color.

Winternight - thank you. No, it is not from a local jeweler/merchant. Someone in another state.

Diamondseeker - thank you!

Marcy - thank you!

Wow, amazing find  That color is electric!

Thank you, Baby Nurse!

Wowza Ark! What a gorgeous stone! So glowy and silky and the color.... You have good taste. Love the setting that TL linked to as well.

What a lovely sapphire!!!!

Congratulations Arkteia - just a gorgeous glow-y stone - it would look amazing in a setting similar to the Lang one!

Ed, thank you for the compliment. Suffice it to say that the quality/price ratio is very good.
