new sapphire

Oooh, I am so jealous! It's beautiful!

As for settings...what about something similar to the ring in the second photo but with diamond melee instead of the gold balls - or - dare I say trilliants? :rodent:

Thank you, MTG!
Starzin, I am mostly thinking about technical problems. It has to be set high, because of the "belly". Whatever would fit the form of the stone better is fine with me. Only recently did I realize that extinction because of the depth of the stone might present a problem (at least, I have no clue how to set such stones). LD had mentioned it but I did not realize that it was that important. Any advise would be appreciated.

I missed this one earlier, this is gorgeous, I would like to see this in an antique setting. :appl:

I missed this too! What a gorgeous blue sapphire!

Beautiful stone; beautiful colour! The saturation is so rich and if I could reach out to touch the stone, my mind fools me into thinking it might feel velvety.

I am using the good monitor right now so the colours are much brighter. Yes, a setting as open as possible althought not necessarily high because your stone is deep enough that it doesn't need additional help to stick out off your finger.

Thank you, Lovinggems! Always nice to hear from you!

Thank you, Kismet! Nice compliment from someone who has such fabulous jewelry!

And Chrono, thank you so much! With your eye for color and your taste... if you say it is good, it must be good!

And seriously, the good part about this stone is, its color is very likable in each light! Even in the darkest corner, it is still noticeable.

Akretia,

I've been tracking your story for a while and can't wait to see this set!

Slightly OT: but how when did you send your stone to AGL and how long before you got it back?

Thanks!

Arkteia what about something like this picture but claw set your sapphire? You could have trillions on the sides but I don't know how much you're budgeting for this ring. Personally I rather like how the small brilliants go with the gold beads.

gorgeous!!!

THAT is amazing!

Did I miss the part where you tell us where you got it? Come on, spill it! :cheeky:

We all want one!

Nice sapphire!

Yum! What a stone. Looks good enough to eat! :lickout:

Hi maebelle, thank you for your kind words.

I sent it to AGL via my appraiser, I usually do not trust myself with mailing expensive stones, I am checking everything too many times... I think in a couple of weeks, maybe? Perhaps longer if he had it lying in his safe for a while...

I think that using small diamonds may be less costly, but all depends on a jeweler. Beautiful ring, and an interesting idea! Thank you!

Cherrytomato1, thank you for your kind words.

iLander, the vendor is not known here and I got to know him through a third party. Thank you for your compliments.

Harriet, thank you for your kind words.

Vinkalman, thank you for your kind words - and for digging out my old thread! :) I am very happy because I was not paying any attention to it and did not thank PS-ers who complimented me on the stone. Sorry, dear fellow PS-ers!

Ah. That sapphire makes my heart flutter. So beautiful.
