Don't you worry, I already did! Figured this was a great opportunity to pick up something I've been wanting but never buy because I'm usually saving up for pricier stones- an amethyst. I asked Jeff Davies if he had one that would fit an 8.8mm setting and he had one that's 9mm. So pretty soon I'll have not one, but TWO new rings!!

kelli, does the bench jeweler have lots of COLOR stone setting experience?
given the "issues" with your stone i'd be hesitant for someone w/o lots of experience setting it.
color stones are not as easy to set as diamonds and many diamond setters just don't have the right experience.
just bringing it up in case you had not discussed it with the jeweler.

I think so. One of the girls in the shop was telling me how much she loves colored gems and that he had made some settings for her. He also seemed pretty confident and they had plenty of colored stones in the shop, more so than diamonds even. I probably should have checked just to be sure though. I guess I'll find out soon enough...
