Hello all,

First off, thank you to everyone who helped me with my decision to return the teal sapphire with the huge window. I now have a gorgeous, sparkly, precision cut teal sapphire from Gary at Finewater that arrived today!

She’s 6.41 ct, Unheated from Madagascar, and 10.1 x 10.04 mm

Any thoughts for what kind of ring setting I should do? My original idea was tossed out the window when I changed to this stone. It’s for my engagement/wedding ring (not planning to wear a band with it). I love antique and art deco, but am at a bit of a loss.

It’s stunning.
I’m thinking white metal (some like me prefer white gold over platinum) full bezel with a diamond baguette, each side. You could go two each side, the second one smaller.

Absolutely gorgeous! We have posters who are experts on choosing gorgeous settings and I can't wait to see what they suggest for you.

Ooh, sort of like this (except center stone bezel set instead of prongs)?

Yes, there’s so many people on here with great taste and gorgeous pieces! I feel like the collective would know exactly what to do.

This stone could NOT be more gorgeous... truly. It's perfection. Big congrats to you!! :appl:

That is SOOO beautiful!

I think the geometry of a bezel would be beautiful, but I would worry it might darken the sapphire. Maybe others with bezeled sapphires will weigh in.

I like the example you posted! I’d do tab prongs and then those lovely baguettes. Maybe even French cuts if I was feeling decadent.

I don’t think I would bezel it as I think it would darken the stone. I would want lots of light flooding it.

And we need a million more pictures!

Oh, I like the idea of tab prongs! Especially if they’re on the corners. I’ve never seen French cut diamonds in person, but they look gorgeous in pictures!

I wish I could figure out how to add video, but here’s a link to one Gary posted of it (I find it’s more blue than this in person in outdoors light)

My future fiancé sent me a video this morning, as he knew I’d be wanting to see it when I woke up, haha.

Exactly.
The reason why I suggested a bezel for the sapphire is that that’s more “art deco” in styling and I’m biased towards bezel settings ha ha.
I think the vibrancy of the sapphire could handle a bezel.

Gorgeous!

Wow, what a beautiful stone!! What about a kite setting? It's as art deco as it gets..Screenshot 2024-06-21 at 4.16.50 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-06-21 at 4.15.47 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-06-21 at 4.19.21 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-06-21 at 4.18.03 PM.png

Ooh, these are cool! I’m seriously considering bullet or kite shaped side stones like the last picture

Love it!
