Hey all,

I'm very new to diamonds in general but want to get my SO a gift on valentines but not sure how to go about it.

This is what i'm looking for:
~.5ct LGD white
14k gold chain
Princess Cut or round

This would be ideal but it's OOS.

Should I go preset route or buy a diamond, chain, and have it mounted?

Budget is under $500.

Thank's y'all.

Welcome to the forum!

What a lovely gift idea for your SO, and you have definitely come to the correct place.

Preset is *likely* what will work best for your time frame and budget.

Love the lightbox one, and there are likely other retailers online that carry that (Reeds does, but for a higher cost than your budget, others might be able to chime in for that particular necklace if it can be found other places).

What I found similar and under budget is this from James Allen: https://www.jamesallen.com/necklace...iamond-pendant-050-ctw-f-g-vs2-si1-item-68052

Downside is that the pendant is fixed, not sliding, but the diamond minimum quality is better than the minimum quality of Lightbox (F/V color and VS2-Si1 clarity) over the quality by Lightbox (J color, Si2 as their minimum).

Are you OK with a slightly larger diameter solitaire diamond without a halo?
TAoJ has some coupon codes that may apply to the pendant setting (I'm not able to verify this while on my phone).
If the 5% + 15% coupon works for it, then the price drops to about $570 for a 0.6 D SI1 with a 40.7/33.8/57 combo, which should be perfect for a pendant...sorry, over budget I know, but wanted to give you another option to consider that has a diamond that you will know all the specs, proportions, and angles of.

I appreciate you taking the time to help!

My apologies for not providing an update but I went ahead and ordered the necklace that @vintageinjune recommended.

The combo you suggested looks great and I'll keep it in mind if the jamesallen one isn't to my visual liking.

Thanks!

No worries at all...you scored a great deal on the JA pendant! Glad this worked out in your favor!
