Inspired by @lovedogs, I recently took a major leap of faith and purchased a Tiffany solitaire and matching knife edge band off eBay. It’s a long story- the basic gist is that it was a divorce ring and the seller was definitely motivated to get rid of it. His pictures were terrible, but I had a good feeling about it and it was in my size, so once it arrived, I ran to Tiffany to get it polished. As an aside, the polishing cost $50 and it took about 2.5 weeks, which seems really long to me. It’s an I, SI1, with MB fluorescence. My 43 year old eyes can’t see any inclusions and couldn’t with a loupe either. It scores a .8 on the HCA and per Tiffany, is a triple excellent (though the crown angle is slightly out of ideal range).

I also purchased the matching band from a Japanese seller and that it arrived in 3 days, which was incredible. Even though the band was also my size, I wanted it a half size bigger and for some reason, Tiffany sized it and shipped it to my house for free. It also took 2.5 weeks.

Both rings are older- the ering is from 2014 and I’m not sure about the age of the band. I was surprised to see that the height of the band is much shorter than the ering height. I tried on some present day bands and they are a little bit higher but much sharper and therefore uncomfortable to my fingers. Because I got such a steal on the band and due to the comfort issue, I decided it wasn’t worth buying brand new to match the ering height better.

Anyway, I love this ring!! The ering itself is heavy and very comfortable! When I first got it, it seemed so small compared to my haloed 1.35 but now that I’ve worn it all most exclusively for the past month, the size seems quite respectable. Reverse DSS, maybe?? And, I got them for under $2k!

Very pretty and looks great on your long elegant fingers. Great EBay find!

Very cool you took the leap @Logan Sapphire. Nice to have an alternate set right? Can’t beat a classic Tiffany at a killer price. Congratulations. It looks beautiful on you.

Are you showing two different wedding bands? Is the diamond one the new one? Your set looks lovely on your hand. Classic & elegant.

Hallo @Logan Sapphire :wavey:

Super classy new ring! Very elegant, and a perfect size for your finger for a more petite look, while still having noticeable presence. All in all - great balance!

Lovely. :))

Thanks! Yes, I did post two different wedding rings. The plain one is the new one and the diamond one is my Victor Canera wedding ring, which is not new.

Simply pure class! If I could start over with my wedding set, I would go for a classic Tiffany & matching knife edge. I actually have dreams about them being on my finger!

They look stunning on you & despite the smaller diamond, they ooze Tiffany elegance.

Very pretty! Looks great on you too!

Gorgeous and forever classic! (A dainty Tiffany yellow gold solitaire set is on my wish list!)

Love, love, loving this! Your new Tiffany looks amazing on you, and it pairs nicely with the plain and the diamond bands. Odd that the plain band doesn't measure up the same width-wise even though they're both Tiffany.

It's funny, we have a similar combo going on. I have a 1.36 that is my ering. However I also have a .46 set into a VanC that I take out now and again. I know what you mean about reverse DSS! When I wear the .46 I am so enamored of it and kinda like it better than my 1.36. Something about the proportions, plus the setting, it's just yummy.

So classic and elegant!!! Love it as an alternative set :kiss2:

It's beautiful! I love a classic look and I'm also a big fan of petite diamonds. This is perfect on you. Congratulations on a great buy and a terrific look.

Nice soli, great find! It does look bigger than .58 and looks great, what a steal! Congrats!

Nice find! Looks lovely on your finger, the perfect size!

It is beautiful and I agree with others - it looks much larger than a .58 carat!

I wonder if you bought a new solitaire and wedding band from them today if there would be a size and height difference between the engagement ring and wedding band? It still looks wonderful but makes me wonder. There really is something special about a smaller set of rings - they look like they just belong on you! Love it!

So beautiful! Hard to beat a classic Tiffany solitaire! :kiss2: Wonderful find, enjoy!

I love this! To my eye, it's the perfect size/balance to your finger and hand - definitely my favorite look - and what a great find!

I feel like I need to take a field trip to Tiffany again to compare the bands and solitaires. Just for research purposes, mind you.

I would love to see your e-ring and your VanC set too, please!

I feel like I read somewhere that the shank has changed slightly over time. If you look at the pics Tiffany has now, the profile of the shank definitely looks different than mine- looks uniformly even in terms of height whereas mine is taller up top. I obsessively pored over lots of pics of Tiffany rings and have definitely found others that look just like mine and are also mismatched with the band, but I'm for sure also wondering if a new ring and band today would be better matched. I might have to pop into a store to find out!

I think a lot depends on the size of the stone as to how the profile view looks. I think you got an excellent deal considering the Vatche repro setting alone is around $1800 in platinum! How fun to have a real Tiffany set! :appl:

Well, at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Your set is beautiful, you got a great buy and it looks fabulous on you!

I’ve noticed that every Tiffany setting looks a little different no matter when it was made. I know before a few years ago, the width of the ring was dependent on the size of the diamond and tended to be a little wider than most of the newest ones I see. I think there are two or three widths to choose from now, but I would think it still must depend somewhat on the diamond size? I think the knife edge tends to look sharper on the newer ones.

That video shows three new Tiffany rings. I screenshotted the profile views and attached one more picture I had saved. You can see how even the brand new rings are all unique from the side.

@JohnnyAngel Thanks for posting that! Yes, I see distinct differences in those shanks. I wonder why? Mine looks like the first and fourth ones you posted, minus the big old fat diamond. As I mentioned earlier, I did buy two of the knife edge bands directly from Tiffany to see how they compared to my older one and the knife edge is definitely sharper and (to me) more painful. My sister has the Vatche repro and my e-ring is more comfortable than hers for sure.

I took some more pictures with other bands I own- my original channel set ring, an Etoile, the thinnest Trinity, a 3mm Lucida, and a rose gold Harmony with my unimpressed dog.
