Hi All,

I''ve been reading this forum for a couple of weeks as I''ve started shopping for an engagment ring! I know I want an asscher cut and have ... after much searching ... purchased the following from JA in order to evaluate it in person (going to get any stone I buy mounted by I Gorman in DC).

Please let me know what you think!!!

Shape: Asscher
Carat weight: 0.86
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: IF (with surface graining noted in the GIA cert)
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 69%
Table: 56%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: THK
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.20*5.13*3.52
Ratio: 1.01

Price: $3580

I know its a little to high in depth and only a G ... but the price seemed to be pretty great.

Really appreciate any feedback you might have!

why IF? that is very very high in clarity, I would suggest VS2 or even SI1 to save some money or go bigger.

I agree, IF is pretty pricey and you could get something a bit larger if you even went to VVS 1 or 2...IF and Flawless are wonderful but not needed for the ring to look great!

I''d look at stones in the VS range. They will be eye clean most likely and you can get a larger stone that way. I have an asscher that is .92 E VS1 and it''s totally eye clean. Just my 0.2, good luck!!!

Thanks for the replies --- keep them coming!

I have looked at a number of VS stones and have found that (perhaps unfortunately) I have very good eye for even pinoint inclusions. I would love to go with a stone with less color in the VVS range but have not been able to find anything with decent proportions. One stone I looked at was a VVS2 E but had a table of 76%.... this is too large, correct?

Thanks again!

by the numbers it looks good but they dont tell you a lot.
Let us know how it looks when you get it and post pictures if possible.
IF is kewl if thats what you love :}

yes way toooooo biiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggggg

Numbers look good!!! Depth if totaly fine for a right made Asscher...

One advice...., if you allready decide to go for an "IF"...., go for the top...., make it a "D" color as well....

But a picture is needed to nail a decision.

will try to post a pic as soon as it comes in..

Bump... any fresh ideas on this stone. Or, any others i should consider?
