Newbie looking for a little help for Ering stone.

I have emailed the vendor yesterday asking if i can see some other photos and asked a few questions and am just waiting for a reply.

I realize the stone is probably not exactly what i'm after but i'll probably have to compromise at some stage given what i'm after. I can always upgrade at an anniversary :)

Hopefully get a reply soon, thanks all for your help and comments!

Ask for a picture of it on the back of the hand between two fingers, and also ask about the colour shifting indoors.

So I know this was aaaages ago but I thought i'd update about how everything finally panned out.

I had contacted Jeff White just to see what he might have or be able to get a hold of and had a small stone cut just in case something else didn't pop up. I was running out of time and thought something was better than nothing. It was darker than what i finally ended up with and took longer than expected and also arrived after New Years so it was lucky I found this one below as well.

1.67ct Spinel.

I had it lab tested and sent to Van Craeynest for it to be set. After some time searching I'd seen the designs they had and they were exactly what I thought my girlfriend would love. I chose the 'dogwood' in white gold, which is the E.811.5 (i think).

We went on holiday, i proposed, she said yes, were now back home and managed to find a nice afternoon with nothing to do but sit and take some photos. Unfortunately I've only got my iphone to take them but thought once again, some are better than none and people are always interested in seeing new rings yes?

I now understand why people find it so hard to take nice photos, plus i only had two small flowers from the front yard to use.

The whole experience was great, though stressful, but still fun. There were a lot of small problems along the way which i won't bore everyone with but my top tips for someone finding a stone and having a ring made would be;

*Everything will take more time than you think.
*Everything will cost more than you think.
*There will be hiccups and problems along the way.

I thought i could just turn up, decide on a cut and color, cruise to a website pick one and away you go. Once you start learning you start to become more picky and you realize there's just not that much out there to choose from and it could take months for a suitable candidate to pop up.

Have a budget, but realize if there's something that's maybe one or two hundred dollars more than your budget but you really like it, you'll spend the extra to get what you want. Exchange rates change too. I'm in Australia and when I started the exchange rate to the U.S was good, and then later when paying the bills it wasn't :nono:

Bank transfer delays, Lab testing delays, wrong information given, wrong information received, shipping delays, family members not keeping secrets too well, expect one or two hiccups along the way.

Anyway I think I've started to ramble, have a good day all, have fun. By for now.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have, and also thanks for the people on this forum, for their help and inspiration.
