Newbie Question: Tolkowsky v. HCA

My local jewler is a big fan of the Tolkowsky Ideal Cut. However, the diamond in question seems a little deep (62.. What exactly is a Tolkowsky Ideal Cut and how does it relate (if it does) to a diamond that scores less than 2 on the HCA. Basically, can I ignore the HCA with a Tolkowsky, or do I still need to run the numbers?

Anyone can claim it is a TIC... run the numbers on HCA anyway. Unless it is a Tolkowsky branded diamond ("Cut by Tolkowsky," I believe) then I think you are pretty safe.
