Newbie seeking design advice on small lab diamond flower pendant

My friend advised me to create an account and post here, so hello everyone!

Background: I’ve been working on creating a custom piece as an ode to self, to symbolize some of the major accomplishments I achieved. I had a different design originally in mind but had to reimagine things after learning more about how jewelry moves and functions with gravity lol. After that, I found this cute dainty floral piece with 5 blue sapphires at my local jeweler whom I’ve been working with and decided to use that as inspiration.

Goal: The idea is to have five pink lab diamonds surrounding one white lab diamond (with claw prong), surrounded by some kind of frame (halo or milgrain/bead). It’s for everyday wear, so small-ish (dime to penny size?) and dainty is the look I’m going for. (Vision board below)

Things I’m still trying to make a decision about:

1. Chain material - 14k white gold or platinum?

2. Chain style - open to suggestions

3. Stone settings - should the center stone (white lab diamond) be set at the same level as the surround 5 pink lab diamonds or should the center stone be set above?

4. Frame/halo type - white lab diamond halo or milgrain/bead halo?

5. Frame/halo setting - should it be set at the same level as the pink diamonds or below?



I’m a very visual person and I’m still learning all the lingo, so pics accompanying the suggestions would be super helpful!!

I'm partial to Option 2 - I prefer the look of the milgrained bezel to the diamond halo for the perimeter. I think it gives it a more understated look which I think works well with this design.

Stuller has a number of options like this in case you want to buy a stock piece rather than going custom.

Thanks! I’ll probably stick to custom this time because I’m very particular with what I want for this piece. However, I’ll definitely take a look for future pieces.

My preference is for metal detailing and using space wisely.

I think angling the petals and potentially changing the halo melee size at the edge would refine your design.

Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of the pear stones and angled edges, not sure if I like the spacing.

Personally I prefer same level.

If you are going for understated, then milgrain.
